#system thinking

While each of these scientists was brilliant, many claimed they would not achieved such success without collaboration. Science needs conversations. Businesses need managers to lead and participate in conversations that result in team collaborative learning.

The West and the East have different natural philosophies at its origin. The former is concrete and rational, which treats nature as an object that we can observe, study and eventually understand. It separates human and nature as the subject and the object standing at the opposite side, paving the way for modern science. On the contrary, Chinese natural philosophy is generally abstract and mysterious, treating the universe as a whole system (human as part of it), seeing connections between elements. Laozi(or Lao-Tzu), a great ancient Chinese philosopher, describes Dao(or Tao) as the source of existence, but it’s unseen and indescribable. This type of system thinking and its uncertainty may have slowed down the development of science in Chinese society, but it also provides complementary perspectives for modern science, as we now see in Quantum physics. Knowledge includes the ability to modify, transform and operate on an object or an idea. The learning process involves a construction of things which can be shared with others. (Assessment). A learner should be able to explain, extend and evaluate what he/she has learned.

I wonder when we'll realize, as a collective, that our current values we gauge progress and process with is backwards. We speak of white supremacy and white privilege and developing nations - It's like we're hanging on to the coattails of the destructive forces of this world, trying to make them undo their magnum opus. We wag a finger at the original beneficiaries of the system but when a non-white makes it in that same system we celebrate First so and so Got accepted by 8 Ivy Leagues Richest so and so It's like we're neurotic and split into a hatred for exploitation and a longing for power. Only two types of individuals shape the world : destroyers and healers. Healers are those who've refused to submit to the dominating Cartesian destructive perceptions. They've taken the time to process the system that tried to kill them and they heal. A new reality is never born of correcting the old. It's created from the alchemic transformation of being destroyed and then rejuvenated by faint hopes of an adjacent possibility. What would happen if we didn't use economy to measure human potential and depth? What if we could create a living system that encourages a growth mindset, rewards individual expression, and work towards a collective harmony by integrating all the variables? “This state of affairs is not inevitable.
