Synesthegender: A neurogender where someoneâs perception of gender is affected by their synesthesia. This could be their own gender, or gender in general.
Flag meaning: The five colored stripes represent the five commonly known senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell), although together, they also represent lesser known senses and concepts.
The brighter stripes represent projective synesthesia (directly experiencing mixed senses), and the duller stripes represent associative synesthesia (a strong and innate association between senses).
The white stripe and white circle represent gender, and how a synesthegender personâs perception of gender is innately tied to their synesthesia.
Symbol meaning: When looking for a synesthesia symbol, I couldnât find one. So, I made my own.
The symbol is made up of a infinity sign and two arrow-heads. The infinity sign is a symbol for neurodivergence. Synesthesia is in itself a neurodivergency, but it is also more common among people with other neurodivergent conditions such as autism or ADHD. The two arrow-heads are placed along the infinity sign to represent a pathway or exchange between senses.
The colors share the same meanings as the stripes on the synesthegender flag: five colors to represent the five commonly known senses (sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell), and together, they also represent lesser known senses and concepts; brighter colors for projective synesthesia (directly experiencing mixed senses), and duller colors for associative synesthesia (a strong and innate association between senses).

So, believe it or not, I was the anon who coined synesthegender and made the original flag!(link) It was my first coining, and I decided to do it on anon, because I wasnât ready to have any attention on me.
Since then, Iâve coined three other terms, and gotten a lot better at flagmaking, so I thought I should revisit it and make a redesign.
