OKAY HERE WE GO

(i actually didn’t see this until i was at a grocery store aaay)

Kate likes to buy food at, like, two in the morning. Usually after a break in a case, or some PI business….or Hawkeye business…she has a lot of business that doesn’t involve Bucky and Steve, which is fine, they’re fine with that. It’s not like they don’t have missions they can’t really tell her about. 

But sometimes, (tonight, for example) it’s that perfect storm of jet-lagged Steve and/or Bucky and a haven’t slept in 49 hours Kate, and grocery shopping at two in the morning.

Not for actual, real food. Steve has managed to sneak some produce into the cart, Kate has gone for frozen breakfast–toaster strudels ftw–and Bucky took a hard right to avoid the frozen section in favor of heading towards the cereal aisle. (Where Bucky will then complain about forgetting his coupons. He’s been in the modern world long enough that the whole price thing isn’t as weird, but the less sleep he’s had the more likely he is to stand in stunned silence. “Why would I spend twelve dollars for this tiny little wedge of cheese?” which is literally the only argument about food that Kate shuts down like whoa. cheese is important, okay.)

“Plums!” Kate observes as she tosses her boxes of Not Real Food into the cart, bouncing on her toes. “I din’t realize they were in season already–oh! You got bananas for me. Thanks!”

(Steve and Bucky don’t eat Cavendish bananas. Kate has stopped arguing about this with them)

“I was thinking cookies?” Bucky rounds the corner and tosses a bag of chocolate chips into the cart. 

Steve nod before realizing that baking is probably not a wise choice, and Kate is dancing down the aisle, not paying attention. 

Which. Yes, Kate dances in grocery stores. And department stores. And banks. And labs. 

Except that it’s late (or early) so when she wends her way back towards them, Bucky catches her hand and gives her a twirl.

(Bucky’s always been a good dancer)

So Steve should probably not be surprised that the pair of them dance all the way to the register

(a swing-y song is playing–Jump Jive something)

and naturally Kate and Bucky proceed to do an actual dance while Steve pays for the groceries, as a small crowd of night shift workers watches. He thinks he sees a phone out, catching the moment Buck swings Kate into the air, the way he dips her low, faces flushed and panting, they take a bow.

Everything about this is good

I loved Kate's old costume. The new one is a little... "eh" for me. 

These colors go so well with her, though. Wow.
