1: what inspires you?

I honestly don’t know. I’ve never really worked out what it is about certain ships/characters that makes me want to write about them. Mostly I think I just have a “what if?” idea that sprawls across my brain and I build on it. And past a certain point I think I write about characters because I know my versions of them so well. But before that? I’m really not sure. However, there are certain fanfic writers who write specific things really well that inspires me to try it out, but they can be very specific things.

20: what songs were you listening to during this scene/chapter?

Sorry, I need a scene to answer this @alphaflyer! Feel free to reply to this post and I’ll reblog with the answer. (Though the likelihood of me remembering is pretty slim to be honest.)

But she isn't there yet - I hope she will, once she gets Ashford's message (I have no doubt that it was her he sent his warning to from the airlock). I imagine her, Bobbie and Avasarala becoming a formidable team in season 5.

YOU HAVE CAUGHT UP ON SEASON 4 THIS IS FABULOUS. I didn’t know you had! Glad to have you aboard and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the show if you have them, especially about the politics. :D

Drummer has the makings of a formidable political leader, but I agree that she isn’t there yet. Hopefully this moment will be a steep learning curve for her. She has the ability to rally people to her cause if she wants to, as we saw in her speech in Season 3. But ultimately she’s a pragmatist* and doesn’t believe in symbolism or convincing people through ideological rhetoric, and a leader needs to be able to do that as well as making pragmatic choices.

I agree that Ashford was almost certainly sending Drummer that message. Narratively there isn’t anyone else who would make sense, except maybe Dawes, but I doubt the show can afford Jared Harris for more than a cameo or two at most.

51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!

I shall do both!

Gush: I love participating in a writing/fan community. I love discussing fics and ideas with people, whether they’re my own ideas/works or theirs. I love creating and seeing other people create. And as much as sometimes a lack of response can be frustrating, the times when people do respond? When they leave comments, kudos, prompts? When they fill prompts I have given? When they reply to my comments? Those times are golden. A fic comment can raise my mood for days, more even. All those interactions make the more annoying aspects of fandom worth it.

As for the annoying aspects...

Rant: I find it really frustrating when people only seem to claim they ship a F/F ship when said ship conveniently gets a female character away from a white dude. I saw this all the time in the MCU fandom especially and it put me in the unwelcome frame of mind when I see people say “oh, I’m not erasing Valkyrie, I just ship her with Female Character X!’ and my first thought is “really? Do you really ship her with a female character?” Because so often those same people never create fanworks for said f/f ship or engage with any content for the f/f ship beyond a token reblog of a fanart or a gifset once in a blue moon. There is nowhere near the same level of engagement for f/f as there is for white male ships.

It’s particular frustrating as a creator for f/f ships because the number of people saying “oh, I totally ship Female Character/Female Character” creates this illusion that there is a bigger audience for f/f fanworks out there than there actually is. It’s once you post a fic and get one kudos for every 50 kudos given to a fic about a white m/m ship that you realise people actually don’t ship f/f as much as they say they do.
