After waiting for a few days, I have come back with not one, but TWO Klonoa related questions (the second question I'll make as a seperate ask for convenience sake)! The FIRST question: What's your opinion on the English voice acting of the Wii Remake of Klonoa? I know that many people have many different opinions on it (myself included), and I wanted to hear your take on it, if that's okay!
Ooh, good question! I was just thinking about it the other day. I feel that the English voice acting is... mediocre at best. I mean, the voices themselves sound high quality (like they were made in a studio, and not in someone's garage), but not many of them are that fitting to each character. Klonoa's voice... is somewhat fitting, but the rest? Eeeh... I feel like Joka definitely should've gotten a different voice actor. Ghadius' voice doesn't really sound like it would fit him either (to be honest, Ghadius gives me major DILF vibes lol, so I was figuring his voice would be the same [deep, smooth].. it was neither that deep nor smooth π. His voice sounded like what putting gravel in a blender would sound like.) However, most, if not all of the voice acting sounds a bit... forced in the English version, in my opinion. It doesn't seem to have a lot of emotion poured into it, and I prefer the Japanese version over the English version. In the Japanese version, there is definitely emotion in the voices, even if I can't understand the language. Also, in the English version, I noticed that they called the, uh.. the little unconscious lady at the beginning (who I can't remember the name of for the life of me) a songstress, whereas in the Japanese version, they call her a diva. Just something to point out. But, in conclusion, I don't like the English version than much lol. I'm glad there is an English version, or else I probably never would've played the game when I was younger, but... eh. Win some, lose some.
