Her feet meet the ground soundlessly, careful leaps in hurried arches as she follows her companions of the evening. The cats are already down the bridge and she would have been meeting them there by now had she not collided with a tall stranger. Her sword clatters to the ground loudly, a near deafening sound as she flinches at it. A hand comes to her ear in a failed attempt at preventing further tinnitus but her annoyance takes over quicker than the pain. Yunli had been ready to snap something at the stranger but a voice has her pause. Not the strangers, no, his sword. It wails, it rages, it laments, a truly pitiful sound that clenches at her heart. What kind of torture has this man been through that his sword isn't prideful?
Her gaze finally meets his, guarded, alert, all she can think about is the sword. "...You're not going to help me up?"
his time aboard the xianzhou was drawing to a close. soon enough another script would arrive. the last few days, however, had passed with a rather unfamiliar kind of quiet. it had not been kafka appearing unannounced or firefly checking up on him. not even silver wolf flooding his phone with messages he would, inevitably, pretend not to see.
it came in the form of a small black cat. he had mentioned the stray in passing to the trailblazer. the cat soon had mysteriously found its way into his arms not long afterward. he suspects he knows exactly who was responsible.
he remembers that around this corner, cats had always gathered here. perhaps it would do the little one some good to meet others of its kind. that had been the idea, at least. the cat seems to disagree, and instead of wandering off, it curls comfortably beside him on the bench. ❛❛ stubborn... ❜❜
eventually he rises from the bench, hand beginning to lift, intending to coax the feline along when something, or rather someone, crashes directly into him. a quiet groan escapes him. despite her age, she certainly knew how to make an entrance.
his gaze follows the weapon. ❛❛ hanguang ... ? ❜❜ he knows that craftmanship. he had stood beside its maker, worked beside him, and learned alongside him. his gaze lifts from the sword to the girl before him. hanguang's daughter.
still, she seems rather unconcerned by the fact a notorious criminal is standing directly in front of her. ❛❛ would you even want help ? ❜❜ the question is genuine. among the countless long-lived people of the xianzhou who had looked 'pon him with disdain, hanguang had never done so. and thus before she can answer, he extends his hand.
that place is unreachable for me; savour it for me. @svpernovae. always accepting.
