One of my favorite pieces of misinformation is the belief that Rambo III was dedicated directly to the Mujahideen. And it is true, Rambo does work with the Mujahideen against the Soviet invasion. But the actual film print just mentions "the Gallant People of Afghanistan," and the Mujahideen text is an edit from the 2010s. Some people have, when pushed, claim that it was edited after 9/11, though 1988 reviews mention the "Gallant people" dedication.
It has even developed into a Mandela effect, with many people swearing up and down that they have seen it, particularly in some other country, even though the original producers would have absolutely have no motivation to make an alternative print for that, and nobody has actually produced any copy in any language dedicated to the Mujahideen. It's pretty interesting how defensive people will get on this point.
