The concept of super intelligence AI makes me feel like I'm fucking insane.
Like, there's a lot wrong with it, but there's this one thing that doesn't get mentioned in the discussion by anyone else and it makes me wonder if I'm the crazy one.
So; one of the main pitches to what we would want to develop super intelligence is because it could speed up our research and development in the sciences.
And... Do these people have any idea how science is done?? And what the actual things holding it back are?? Do they think our problem is that our stupid meaty brains are struggling to grasp concepts?
Like... No... Actually. What holds us back is lack of funding in education and in places that do the research for these advancements. But there's also another thing that slows us down and it's something that would get in our way no matter how smart we are, or how much funding. It's testing.
Science requires testing and often there's a need to test stuff over stretches of time. This can be for safety reasons. Sometimes what works in the immediate moment has awful side effects in the long run.
There's also the concern of having a live subject to test on. This is also not something a super intelligence could somehow speed up.
Advances in science requires testing on actual things in reality, and a super AI isn't going to be uniquely capable of cutting time out of that.
What would a super intelligence do instead that only a super intelligence could? I'm not sure, but my guess is that the people making this pitch either haven't considered that, or that they plan to have it run simulations. Which is a big bloody problem.
Digital simulations will always be flawed, and are informed by the knowledge already discovered. A common idea in science is that at any moment our strongest theories of how anything works can be proven incorrect. I mean last I heard we've been starting to question how we see the expansion of the universe for fucks sake. A simulation is only as good as the information the machine has, and the only way ideas get challenged is by actual testing.
Am I making sense? Am I missing something here? This just sounds like a glorified method to bend everyone's perception of reality as whatever the AI says is true is what we are taught.
But spoken facts that don't stand on firm reality often collapse, along with everything piled on top of it. Perhaps we shouldn't have AI in our research and development huh?
AI is perturbs me. I love to write stories. Mainly because I’ve seen people use AI to help write their work. And to me that’s just wrong.
Writing is a way of showing our creativity and imagination. But by using AI, you start to take those away. You won’t need to use much imagination or creativity to write a story. Just enter a prompt and some vague details, and there you go.
I worry for the future of humanity. Especially if there are scientists are predicting that Superintelligent AI will eventually arise in the year 2027.
We could build an AI that demonstrates generalized, human-level intelligence within three to eight years — which may open the door to a "sup
This scares me, because if AI leans how to program itself and show sings of self awareness, it might destroy our civilization as we know it.
Our creativity, imagination, and hard work we’ve been doing is all going to be obsolete at some point.
Imagine watch a show, but instead of human actors or directors, it’s all run by AI humanoid robots.
I feel like that’s where we’re headed. AI is growing faster and more efficient than anyone could realize. And it’s scary.
Happy Monday?

In a movie called Super Intelligence, an AI tries to see the good side of people before thinking about destroying the world. The AI can speak in any voice, and for the purpose of this scene... it uses KITT's voice!

Inhumans seem disfavored, but what hasn't slowed Kamala Khan need not slow Lunella. Her partner Devil Dinosaur was rumored years ago and never surfaced.
Their MCOC Wishlist entry surged lately, entering the top 50 most-wanted at #47

I thought that was pretty funny, right? Admittedly, I'm still developing my sense of humor, but I'm getting it; things are funny unless they happen to you.
