I remember lying in bed as a child, feeling the very space between my organs expand, feeling my bones stretch to a point that I thought every single one of them was going to break. My mother assured me I wasn’t dying, only growing. That I had to get through this, embrace the pain, to change for the better. My limbs were expanding, making space for the body I was supposed to grow into. So remember whenever you‘re hurting: you are only making space for the person you are becoming.
