Letās talk about it becauseā¦I donāt know how to feel.
As you can seeā¦A lot of changes have been made. And by changes, I mean the very visual book covers that you can see. The overall plot in stories is a whole other conversation for a later timeā¦
But the book covers recently have been looking a bitā¦duplicated, if that makes any sense? I mean, with the older books and their book covers, you can actually feel the story through those book covers. See some personality. See a clear difference. But I feel as of latelyā¦the book covers lack substance, depth, an actual person (because obviously that has to be AI) and that feeling that makes every story personal and different. But all I can see with the new book covers is: Wash, Rinse, Recycle & Repeat. Iām not even feeling that excitement I use to feel when I would crack open a new book on choices.
The old art for the older books is what gave choices their charm, popularity and what set them apart from other interactive story apps. I felt they were a bit more personal and wholesome with their art when it came to their book coversāeven stories and nowā¦Iām not so sure. Even characters lately are feeling recycled and repeated.š
I donāt know, is it just me not adapting well to the changes since the change in CEO? Am I just use to a specific way choices just did stuff before? I mean, there is a lot of stuff that I miss from the earlier days of this app, that just feels like itās being erased now.
Like even with this thing about, voting for a book that would get to see another story is even questionable to me: Endless Summer & The Elementalist are two books that I love with pretty much everything. I adore them fondly. However, I donāt know how comfortable I am with the newest crew taking a world that was built so fondly, lovingly, daringly, and with time just to appease usāor give us what we want. Even more so, without the original team members that helped create it to be the story it is today. It would have been one thing if the writers of the story was there to help co-write it but I highly doubt thatās the case. I would rather, honestly and respectfully not see these two books see another story than watch new creators come up with new ways to disrupt the two books that was beautifully crafted by people that arenāt there anymore. Iām sure, the new team and owner have good intentions by offering this opportunity but Iām not very keen on the idea. Not because I donāt believe in their capabilities but because these books and every other books before the change, are not their world. And shouldnāt be pressed to become part of their world.
I donāt know, what do you guys think? I know, change has to happen because thatās part of life but did it have to change this much? šš
Right now, they are basically trying to silence me from speaking up.šš on Reddit.

unfortunately i do love:
- when a villain is so well written you lowkey start to root for them.
- redemption arcs.
- when the character everyone thought was selfish sacrifices themselves for the greater good.
- comic relief characters who use their humour to mask a deep sadness or insecurity.
- morally grey characters.
- when the tragedy of a character is that they couldāve been saved but no one did.
- when a character thinks theyāre doing the right thing, but every decision pulls them deeper into darkness.

Authors & Writers Check This Out
Writers⦠I will never get over the way a single line in your draft can suddenly hit like it was crafted by a poet in another lifetime.
Youāll be casually describing a hallway or a conversation and then boom. A sentence appears that feels like itās been waiting years to be written.
I read moments like that all the time when Iām beta reading or editing. Lines you barely remember typing⦠Lines that say more than you meant⦠Lines that stop me mid-page because theyāre that good.
Itās honestly magic.
So tell me Whatās a line you wrote that surprised even you?
