Is Rotten Tomatoes "The destruction of our (Hollywood) Business"?

Brett Ratnor thinks so. Now, in 2017, when a ton of movies have lost money and summer ticket sales were down 15% from 2016. Strange to blame an aggregate site, especially Rotten Tomatoes, which has been around since 1998 and was popular enough to have a TV show in 2008 and bought by Warner Bros in 2011 (Yes, I cite Wikipedia as my source). Have they tried blaming... people who don’t want to spent increasing amounts on less appealing movies?

Sure, people should make up their own opinions. Top Gun and Home Alone both have exactly 56%, and I’m happy to have seen both of them at least 5 teams each. However, I am standing up for Rotten Tomatoes here. The devaluation of some important theater chains does suck. But let's look at some that have tanked big: The Emoji Movie, Baywatch, King Arthur, The Mummy, The Great Wall (about a white man saving the famed Chinese landmark from alien beasts... $21 I'll never get back), and more. Most of those had iMax or RPX releases that cost over $20/person. So if I saw all 5 of them, I’d have spent $100. That’s a lot to ask of me to see a bunch of, I think we can officially say, bad movies, especially without doing proper research. Why should I cough up coin so someone in Hollywood can cash in on their huge bet. Maybe they should have cashed in on the story? 

It’s very simple: the more expensive something is, the more research they do. Nobody buys a house without some due diligence. I spent $21 on Independence Day: Resurrection and wanted to cry in the theater it was so bad, and that had nothing to do with the money. I would have wanted to cry for a free screening. But I wasn’t about to run out and blindly pay for more shit. Some movies that have done extremely well this summer: Wonder Woman, Spiderman: Homecoming, Dunkirk, Guardians... Vol 2, were all received well by critics across the board. I actually saw them all and I really liked them all. So... remind me why I should look down on an aggregate site that helps me invest in quality in order to be more open to being lured by marketing techniques advertising inferior products?
