I dont know who needs to hear this, but
You can watch almost any video on YouTube frame by frame if you pause and use "," and "." to navigate
This can give you an idea of fps and you can watch effects and impact frames happening as slowly as you like! Not to mention it might show you how much you're over thinking, you might be able to turn 4-5 frames into 3 seconds if it loops well and fits the scene (I just watched sprinklers turn on in an animation and it repeated maybe 8 times?? before moving to the next shot)
Pick something to do this with today, doesnt matter if its Special Effects (fx), Contact points, Character interacting with something, Character A interacting Character B, whatever you like! And then maybe try your hands at making something similar!
