Okay so this, in addition to 'haunted' made me mad in warren ellis's hellblazer run:

what is this??? john should not be called in by the cops to help?? he's not some kinda occult expert for the cops??? whenever he has been put in a position before where powerful people (wether they're criminal bosses, rich people, or the royal family) have demanded his help he has been coerced into it in a way where the people using him are treated as antagonists as much as the demon or whatever they want him to deal with.

this has the same feeling as 'haunted' where ellis also seemed to be writing john based on more generic tropes (haunted pisses me off so much because it pretends it's writing critique of misogyny/misogynistic writing while doing it badly on top of critiquing a pattern that had not been an issue in hellblazer)

what I hate is that there is SO MUCH to learn. I had the very simple assignment to rewatch and write 200-250 words about 12 Monkeys & while I DID manage to do that, I'm now captivated with how the screen play took inspiration from La Jetée which have been lost since Gilliam apparently didn't watch Jetée and made the film according to his own vision (the general inspiration it took from La Jetée and the inclusion of Vertigo and possible Blow-Up references are other interesting topics but not my main focus rn), so I have the original 12 monkeys screenplay I want to finish reading and that other article, and there's the fact that La Jetée's on youtube and I could rewatch that, too, and see if I can find texts on - etc.
