There are many places where you shouldn´t bother if surfing conditions are not what you expected to be like. There is more to life than waves guys. Morocco is on my top list. Amazing landscapes, extremely kind people, delicious food, beautiful villages and dreamy spaces. A wonderful combination that stroke me 30 years ago and has kept me going there every three to four years.  

This time the weather forecast was not optimistic at all so I reduced my expectations and every surf session was a gift. Ten days in Morocco and I could only enjoy one day of good surfing in the beautiful bay of Imessouane and two days of great kitesurfing in Moulay Bouzerktoun, a sleepy village 25km north of Essaouira. 30 knots and one meter swell. Enough for me to keep a smile on my face until my next time.

Our friends from Eldorado have recently launched a new experience in their website. Under the title “California here to here” the photographer, filmmaker and surf passionate Morgan Maassen explains through words and images his special relation with California and the emotional value that this land has to him.

“I’ve flown over glaciers in Greenland, smoked cigars in Cuba, chased penguins in South Africa and sailed between the British Virgin Islands. But no matter how exotic the location I find myself in, nothing inspires me more than my home: California. The rugged coastlines, massive mountains, and a wild sea – I love it all. This is where I grew up, and this is where I will always come back to. My lifelong passion, the place of my dreams, a catalysts for all my creativity – in California I am truly one with myself.”
