I'm so excited to be starting school on Monday. This year is extra special, because it's my first official year of college at a new school. I'll be attending the University of Connecticut-Avery Point in Groton, Connecticut. It's a small campus, there are about 250 students in my class, and it's right on the beach which is awesome. Because I was the valedictorian of my class, I got a presidential scholarship that completely covers my tuition as long as I earn 12 credits a semester and keep my GPA above a 2.5. Between the scholarship and being a commuter, I am saving a ton of money this year, which I am very excited about. Currently, I am an economics major, but I plan on redeclaring to be an engineering major once I get to the main campus, which should be next semester, or at least next August. There is a very big difference between these two majors, and I thought for sure that I wanted to major in economics, but after working with engineers all summer, I decided it is more compatible with my personality and more interesting than I originally thought. This semester, I will be taking Math for Business, American Journalism, American Studies, Ethics, Microeconomics, and a Freshman exploratory that focuses on mental illness and the media. I've already ripped all my stuff open, organized, and put away because I went school shopping with my boyfriend last weekend, but I'll definitely do a post about everything I have
