[10.03.21] ✧ ft. my study space in geneva
Hello lovelies! I am making a vow today to be more committed to my blog, seeing as I really miss my studyblr community. Today I am going to start the Zoomster studyblr challenge - even though I will be off by 10 days. ✨
I will start with some updates about the past few months!
Life updates: I am now back in Geneva after spending about two months in Colorado with my friends and family. I am super happy to be back and to be in the city again! uwu
Uni updates: Last semester, I got three A+s. THREE. Out of five of my courses! I Even though the Swiss grading system is quite odd for me, I had a final course grade above class average for each of my grades (about 0.3 above class average)! Right now I am currently averaging a 5.50 (or an A equivalent). Je suis TELLEMENT contente. ✨ ✧ This semester, my classes are online again, unfortunately. But I am taking some really amazing classes!: Social Theory II - Critical Epistemologies, Ethnographic Fieldwork, Environment and Society, Urban Visualities, and Research Design and Proposal Writing in the Social Sciences. I absolutely love my courses. ✨
Love updates: I am dating a French person, and my French has improved EXPONENTIALLY in the past three months. Absolutely insane!
Health updates: I have been jumping back and forth between medications, having weird withdrawal symptoms and other disassociating side effects (and it doesn’t help that it is extremely difficult to communicate with my US doctor and receive prescriptions abroad). However, overall: I think I am feeling at the best point mentally in my life than I have ever been. I am also eating very well now that I am back in Europe, meditating every morning, and I am hoping to get on a workout routine soon!
Now, to commence the Zoomster studyblr challenge!
Day 1- Introduce yourself! What’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? Also! What are you studying? (If you’re in college, what’s your major? which semester are you in?)
My name is Delcia! I’m currently a first-year master’s student in the anthropology & sociology program at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland. uwu. I am originally from Colorado, and received my bachelor’s from UC Santa Barbara in anthropology (with a minor in linguistics) in 2020. Aspiring professor, sagittarius, torn between light and dark academia, BIG sapph, SJW, and love books + coffee. Anything else? ✨
Tell me a bit about yourself in the comments -- I would love to see what everyone is up to this semester! ✨
lots of love xx, delcia
30 days studyblr challenge: #1
Day 1: A photo of your supplies
challenge by @hayley-studies
100 Days of Productivity: 74/100
Very productive day today! I'm trying to my core exercise routine every other day, and I didn't feel as tired after finishing my workout compared to last time. I also washed my sheets and did some other laundry (our brand new washer works way better, can hold more per load, and it has a cute little jingle when it starts and finishes washing something 😊), and worked on Japanese more. Last night I downloaded some apps and a PDF version of Genki I's textbook and workbook, just to have some supplemental material besides Duolingo and manga, lol.
So far, I'm really enjoying JA Sensei. It's got a lot of useful explanations for the "how" and "why" of Japanese grammar, and I like the quizzes you do at the end of every lesson. It really feels like a Japanese course I could take at uni, just on my phone! I also like how you can tap a certain Kanji character and it shows what it means as well as the proper way to write it with the strokes and everything (a lot more efficient and clean looking compared to trying to do it on my own)
I'm using Bunpo as a review app, since I haven't 100 percent nailed hiragana/katakana and still make mistakes every so often. I also want to use it for vocabulary, and I like the timers it has for how long until you can review. If you're like me and just naturally review over and over in huge blocks that leave your brain fried, it definitely helps you find a break and avoid burnout.
@jasminestudyblrchallenge day 4: do two sides of notes
Today I started my new religion book Catholic Apologetics so I’m super excited! I really want to be able to defend my Faith better and the logic behind Apologetics is so compelling, interesting and I love the reasoning you do! The only downside is just how much info you have to know so these notes took forever!
thanks again, @justjasminestudying!
Love from Hannah xx 💕

Day 3: Favorite Motivational Quote
“You are enough. You are so enough, it is unbelievable how enough you are.” -Sierra Boggess
This quote has gotten me through so many struggles. Whenever I feel like I’m not trying hard enough, or I’m not as good as my peers, I look to this quote and am content with myself. It really gets me going when I feel down in the dumps.
@hayley-studies 30 day studyblr challenge Day 14: send an uplifting message to your favourite studyblrs @textbooks-typing-and-tea @studyingatsunrise @studylikecrazy314159 You guys post inspiring pictures and motivate me to keep going. Continue doing what you’re doing and I’m sure you’ll benefit greatly
