Great quick reference for any vet/nursing/tech students, and also for owners whose vets just can’t seem to help but get a little too technical during consults.
How to save money on textbooks
It’s back to school season and other than tuition textbooks sucks the life out of your pockets. Here are some ways to save on textbooks and make a bit of money with your old ones.
Where to get them:
1. Used books bookstores might have what you are looking for.
- The pros: cheap, somewhat good condition.
- The cons: you might not find what you are looking for. I work at a used books bookstore so a lot of our textbooks are bought by people who are going to resell them for a higher price than you’ll find them at our stores.
2. Amazon rents textbooks
- I have never used the program before but I thought I might for this semester, I’ll let you know how that goes
3. Your college student Facebook pages. I’m pretty sure every college/university has them. It’s where students sell their used textbooks. My college has included ours in their website, yours might have too!
- Pros: easy to access, cheap depending on who is selling them to you
- Cons: the person might take long to respond, take a lot of negotiations, or takes a lot of time to know when are you gonna meet up with them to buy the textbook, textbook might be in a bad condition than in pictures.
4. Kijiji , Amazon and EBay: I betcha you’ll find whatever textbook your looking for there!
- Pros: cheap and easy access
- Cons: have to pay for shipping, might take long to receive the textbook and there might be a problem with the textbook when received
5. The good ol’ internet. If you’re lucky and the universe is working in your favour, you might stumble upon a PDF version of your textbook. I once bought a textbook I could have easily found online and I was livid because I could have saved some money.
- Pros: it’s free and easy to access if you have a computer, tablet or phone
- Cons: you might not be able to access it if the teacher doesn’t allow electronics in their classroom.
6. The libraries. Your school library and your local library( the one that’s big and popular and every tourists goes to) should have it.
- Pros: it’s free and easy to access, you can renew the loan
- Cons: you have a deadline to return the books, if you damage the book you have to pay
7. Borrow textbooks or swap textbooks from friends. If you are in the same program as your friends and they have taken a class you are going to ask them to borrow the textbook. Or you can swap textbooks if you have a textbook someone needs and they have a textbook you need
- Pros: free and time efficient
School is coming back and we’ll be ready for it! It won’t suck all of our money

I rediscovered the pleasure of drawing studies and laying tests with red and blue pastels, posed dynamics and evidence of characters, it was many years that I did not! And it gave me a lot of satisfaction. This method is also useful for studying the drawings of other authors. Reference by Draymond Gutxerex
🌲🌿 Being A Green Student 🌿🌲
Hello my studious friends! I’ve decided I’d (finally) make the green student guide that I’ve been promising forever. Here you’ll find a handy list of ways you can stay environmentally conscious while hitting the books. Feel free to pick a choose what suggestions work best for you and your lifestyle. Again, these are purely suggestions, but I really recommend adopting as many as you can. All of us, especially those in the traditionally “western” nations with outrageous carbon footprints (aka America and many parts of Europe), need to start thinking about how we impact our planet in our daily lives. It’s the only one we have. At first, these suggestions may seem excessive or strange, but I promise, after a week or two, they’ll feel like second nature. So, I hope you take up these tips, and enjoy my guide to be a greener student!
Disclaimer: I understand that being green can be expensive, with little reward besides a cleaner lifestyle and conscious. I’m a financially impaired student, just like many of you. I’m not one to go around attacking people for not trying to be sustainable, just passing along tips I’ve picked up. That said, most of these tips can be modified, with a dash of creativity, to fit your monetary needs. And, obviously, I’m not saying that if you’re struggling to feed yourself you should go drop all your money on recycled notebooks, because that would be ridiculous.

1 quick revision tip.
Consider the subject you’re studying. For example, Biology and Math should employ different studying techniques. In Math you can’t just remember formulas, you have to understand it. In Biology, you can sometimes get away with only memorizing the content (but you should never do this).
