Honestly, I think this week was the first week I was truly productive. I took a lot of photos, most of which were during times I felt inspired by what I was seeing. But the biggest step for me was yesterday, during a school walk out. So for people who happen to read this blog and do not live in Ontario or Canada, you might not know what is currently occurring within my province. Doug Ford, the premier who the head of Ontario’s government, has been looking to make huge cuts within our education system. He wishes to increase class sizes, cut funding for areas of education and cut thousands of teaching jobs, make e-learning mandatory, and those are only a couple of issues with his changes. Anyways, in order for our voices to be heard students across Ontario decided to walk out for our education and for our educators. Fortunately, my friends were the people who organized the walkout, and one of them so kindly asked me to take pics and of course I had to say yes. It is because of that very reason that I accomplished what I had set out to do last week as I overcame my fear by taking pictures of over hundreds of kids. The entire experience was not only empowering but it was something I am very proud to be a part of as a photographer and most importantly as a student.
