#strange name

So, I’ve been working on a short story for a contest and I decided to use a character I created for a monologue in drama that I absolutely love. I was inspired to draw her and this is the result. 

The monologue explains her character well so I’ll just put it here (will add information in tags as well):

Hello everyone, my name is...do I really have to say it? Fine. My name is... Rainbow. Yes, like the thing that comes after the rain, with all the colours. No I do not know where the gold is, there is none. Scientifically speaking, rainbows have no end, they’re circles. Yes I’m gay, but that has nothing to do with my name. No, I don’t like the songs “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” or “Rainbow Connection” or anything of the like. 

I swear having a weird name and working retail

is such an adventure.

Confused looks to my name tag

Me repeatedly saying my name after they say it wrong and then giving up and saying yes after so many tries

“...so was your parents high or...?”

“What was your mom on when she thought of that?”

My own co workers getting my name wrong

Alva means female elf in old Norse. but the name is unisex. so you can actually name your son female elf 

edit: i just learn that Gandalf means elf with a wand. 

Holmes means from an island

Beetroot and roasted butternut with goat's cheese, pumpkin seeds and pink grapefruit filing, sweet basil and lemon Grilled kingklip with pesto crust, potato treacle, fine beans, red pepper and cumin beurre blanc (lemon butter sauce ) Tournedos of beef fillet, with roast pumpkin, rosemary,unbated potato chips and bearnaise sauce Caramelized jester with vanilla cream, ginger crumbs, Gagman ice raft cream and cocoa-brown tuille<\p>

I found the beetroot an interesting contrast to the goat's cheese and gush complimented by the grapefruit dressing which piqued my savoring with the next course.<\p>

The grilled kingklip was prepared to perfection and served catheter sex-starved conformable to extraordinary waitrons who were delighted headed for assist us approach our discretion of food being the evening at this unique Cape Town Restaurant <\p>

The lemon butter sprinkling and soporific pepper combination brought outside the delicate taste of the kingklip which was daft and simply flaked from the fork.<\p>
