Thinking about the thought earlier and how Sally would feel being in a place that's full of familiar faces and yet also full of complete strangers.
The constant reminders that the people that are her family are not them at all.
Sally going to tell Knuckles a joke only for him to give her a blank stare because he's not her Knuckles who shares that inside joke.
Sally going to ruffle Tails' head only for him to give her a confused and uncomfortable look. Addressing her as Sally or Miss. Sally instead of Aunt Sally.
Sally trying to communicate with Amy like she always does, briefly forgetting that this Amy isn't her Amy, and she'll be met with an awkward smile.
Sally going to reach for Sonic's hand, an unconscious thing because she's so used to doing it with her one true love back home. Only to feel him flinch away in surprise. Because Sally isn't his childhood friend or lover here, but instead of complete stranger.
Those moments that brutally remind her that she is very much alone in this sea of faces of people she loves. And the reality that her friends, the people she knew in her Mobius don't exist here.
There is no Nicole, no Bunnie or Antoine. There's no Rotor. They don't exist here. These people that she grew up with and who she, Sonic, Amy and Tails love more than anything are nothing in this reality. There is no Julie Su or any others of Knuckles kind. There is no her or her family in this place. The kingdom of Acorn isn't even a thing. Eggman doesn't have a nephew, nor does Sonic have his uncle Chuck. There's just nothing left of Knothole.
And the most painful part of it all.
Seeing Sonic and Amy interacting.
It's little details Sally notices. The way his emerald green eyes soften when they look at Amy. The comfortable way they tease and banter. The way Sonic leans into Amy's touch whenever she hugs him or holds his hand. The sense that they're in sync. It becomes crystal clear that the man she loves in her world is not the same as the one here. In this world her beloved hero, her heart, her soul, his heart belongs to Amy Rose. Her dearest friend in the world.
The pain Sally would feel, the heartbreak she'd experience seeing them together. The poor princess having to constantly tell herself that Sonic isn't Sonic. That the man in front of her isn't the one back home. In a way, she'd unknowingly be in her Amy's shoes. Pining for the blue blur and just wanting him to look her way with that soft, fond look. Happy for Amy but at the same time jealous and hurting at the entire situation. Added with her feelings of guilt for her crimes while under Eggman's control, Sally would start wondering.
Does she even deserve to go home?
She's hurt her family, nearly murdered Antoine, attacked Amy, Tails and Cream, and terrorized her kingdom that's protected by Nicole and Rotor. She's hurt Bunnie deeply. And....she tried to kill Sonic. The man she's loved since they were children. Would her loved ones even want her back? Could they ever forgive her for everything she's done?
