As previously stated, alternative rock is very wide. For my tracks to not replicate this would be bad referencing. In production, this was in my mind, especially when recording rhythm guitars. The rhythm guitars were taken multiple times and split either side of the stereo spectrum to give the tracks width. Stereo reverbs were used on all vocals, and lead guitar parts where the vocal wasn’t present. This gave the instruments more width and gave them more influence in the mix. Some lead guitar parts were also automated to switch location to keep the mix entertaining. The drums were spread conventionally, as were panned from the perspective of the drummer.
