I’m in the Hanukkah fic mood and its endlessly sad that there’s only 36 sterek hanukkah fics. I’m so starved for content I even read the really short ones.

So if Stiles married Derek Hale, he could become Jewish too? Perfect. It was settled. Stiles gleefully shoveled a forkful of cheesy shells into his mouth.
"Uh oh. I know that look.” Claudia shook her head.
"Don’t worry, Mom, ” Stiles said, reaching for his plastic Batman cup. "I’ve got a plan.”
"Good luck, Derek Hale,” his mother muttered.
Rude.
THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING UP QUICK!
That means, it's time to think about Stiles and Derek and Hanukkah!
Things to look forward to this holiday season:
-Drabble prompts! In honor of @smowkie , I'll be posting a list of 8 sets of 2-3 word drabble prompts!
-A semi-formal 8 Nights Theme List, for those that like a little structure in their fic events!
-Me, finally getting my and together and finishing My Roots Are In These Recipes, and finally posting my Jewish!Derek content!
-Hopefully, increased participation from this incredibly talented fandom, since I'm attempting to get my act together and do promo for this thing!
Can't wait to see what y'all come up with this year!

Happy Hanukkah!! This is Part one for the first night (Sorry I’m three hours late) I’m going to continue this each night for @sterek8nights so there will be 8 additions! I’m probably just going to reblog this post and add the new part each night so look for that!
It's the first night of Hanukkah and Stiles bumps into another Jewish boy on his way to study for exams. He thought they were hitting it off but he might have misread since the guy just disappeared.... There are exams to study for and a holiday to spend with his pops in a couple days, the world goes on and Stiles mourns the loss of a cute boy in a Hanukkah sweater. Until he bumps into that same man back in Beacon Hills.
Warning: I don’t know a lot about the traditions and customs so please by all means correct me if something is incorrect or feels wrong!
Some Hanukkah Prompts!
Here's a few ideas for some Hanukkah celebrating for our guys!
1. Rediscovering traditions
2. First Hanukkah together
3. Hanukkah! With kids!
4. Surprise Jewish character
5. Making latkes/sufganiyot
6. Lighting the menorah
I can't wait to see what you create/write! Remember to tag #sterek8nights and @sterek8nights so I can see and reblog your amazing work!

Prompt!
Dreidel.
Is it super competitive?
Are they playing with the pack? With kids?
For gelt? Strip dreidel?
Truth or Dreidel?
Is the power out and there's nothing to do?
Did they find a dreidel in the back of a junk drawer and get nostalgic?
Just. Dreidel.
Hi! I know it's still just October, but I want to promote sterek8nights early this year (and also maybe a few times leading up to the holidays), to give people a better chance to see it and write for it if they want to, so I was wondering if you have anything I could reblog and share? Do you know if you'll do anything specific with it this year (like you posted prompt ideas one year)?
Hi! Thank you so much for thinking of this!
If you go to Sterek8Nights there are prompt/ideas posts, and I'll be posting a "Hey, I'd love if y'all wanted to join me in this" thing this weekend. (I'm on mobile, or I'd link it!)
I was thinking about trying to do A Whole Thing this year, like a fic exchange, or a submission thing that I'd post each night of Hanukkah, but I have zero idea how to do that (and also interest has been really low the last few years, so it's a bit discouraging 😕) But, I'm so touched that you remembered my little Sterek Hanukkah campaign and are excited to promo it for me.
So, in your honor, I'll do some Hanukkah themed drabble prompts!
Relevant History
Ngl, the lack of response to the original posting of this is giving me a complex, so I’m reblogging at a reasonable time in an attempt to sooth my fragile ego, while I write more Hanukkah Sterek.
“So, the miracle of the oil is partly true, but the real reason we celebrate Hanukkah is to remember the brave Maccabees, who defeated King Antiochus and his army with just a small group, and made it safe for the Jewish people to practice their religion again. Which is pretty awesome, don’t you think, peanut?” Stiles asked, bouncing Tali on his knee to see her smile, lit by the candlelight from the menorah--an heirloom that was once his great-grandmother’s.
Tali hummed, a thoughtful look on her face, a five year old’s version of Derek’s “concentrating eyebrows” making Stiles bite his lip to keep a laugh in, like he always did. “Daddy?” Tali began, her voice serious, and a little sad, putting Stiles on high alert; he could feel Derek tense where he stood beside him, his hand tightening slightly on Stiles’ shoulder.
“What’s wrong, baby?” Stiles asked, turning her slightly so he and Derek could see her better.
“Well, King Andy-ock-tiss didn’t like Jewish people because they were different, and he tried to keep them from being who they are and made them fight so they could be safe, right?”
Derek let out a soft, pained sigh, and Stiles felt his stomach knot as they both caught on to their daughters train of thought.
Derek cleared his throat and crouched down so he was on her level. “Yeah, Tal, that’s what happened,” he says, trying to keep the sadness from his voice as he tucked a stray curl behind her ear and waited for her to finish her thoughts.
“So. It was kinda like with Hunters.”
Stiles tightened his arm around her waist, hugging her closer and trying to think of a way to respond without lying to her, or making her sad, or afraid. Derek and Stiles shared a mildly desperate look, but before either of them could come up with anything to say, Tali continued.
“Well then,” she said, her voice brighter and growing more animated as she went on, “If the Maccabees could beat Andy-ock-tiss’s army, and show him that they were good, then werewolves can totally defeat Hunters and show everyone that we’re good, too!” Tali finished with a smile, and Derek and Stiles shared another look, only to find matching smiles on each other’s faces.
Derek stood up and scooped Tali up, holding her high in the air for a moment before hugging her tight. “You are the smartest person I know, Tali Stilinski-Hale,” he declared, delighted by the giggles she had dissolved into.
“Me, too, peanut,” Stiles added, wrapping his arm around Derek and ruffling Tali’s hair. “How’d you get to be so smart, huh?” he added, tickling her to make her laugh again.
“I don’t know, I just am,” she replied confidently, shocking a loud laugh out of her parents.
“You sure are, Tali-girl. Now come on, Grandpa will be here soon, and there are still latkes to make, and jelly donuts to fill!” Stiles said brightly.
“Yum! Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!”
Derek meets Stiles eye with a hint of mischief dancing in his own, and Stiles knows what’s going to happen even before Derek yells “Race you!” and bolts from the room toward the kitchen.
“Cheater!” Stiles shouts at Derek’s back, over the sound of Tali’s delighted cackles. “See if you get your present tonight, mister!” he threatens, chasing the sound of his little family’s laughter. As he runs, he thinks that his daughter is right; as long as they keep fighting the relentless hate, they can beat it.
