I love science but ...
I love science but I really hate the people going into (or in) science. I met this girl at menstruation focused student club last week who's a chem major and is ableist as fuck. I kind of want to shove her down some (metaphorical) stairs now, as an afterthought to seeing her smug stupid face over and over again. She has a chem prof right now who is notoriously ableist as fuck. My current physio teacher, while trying to not be ableist, is still ableist as fuck. I don't understand the fucked up need to burn through people with an interest in science. Why is this a thing? Why is this an accepted culture? Sure, science requires dedication for learning but there's a 100 ways to apply yourself to that learning and every fucking time I have a problem with someone it's because they act like "It's my way or the highway." Go fuck yourself if this is how you teach and share your knowledge. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't get over your bullshit/trash ego then YOU need to get the fuck out of science and make room for those who are more inclusive. Science needs to be more inclusive. It doesn't need to just be some privileged cunt club.
does it ever happen to you to get mad without plausible reasons on very, very specific things of your field of study / work? like using an x (distance) instead of an angle as my free coordinated in mechanics' problems makes me SO SO UPSET. no reasons for it, it would work perfectly: but it's just wrong.
I’m getting back into reading which is wonderful, but I am getting very frustrated because there aren’t books that have characters who really represent me.
There aren’t books about female STEM majors. There especially aren't books about them finding love or success or just existing.
Most realistic fiction is either about 30-somethings feeling too old or people who are married or divorced or people in grade school or high school.
And I think this is a mix of gender bias and people incorrectly thinking that STEM majors, especially physcial science majors only read technical books. I’m now starting to feel interested into writing something about people who are like me.
