MRIAD Chuyao - Occasions for couple wear and everyone stares at that as they turn up in the same prints/colours but they're like what are you looking at, nope we aren't dressed differently than normal, are we?
The entire police station watched as Qiao Chusheng walked in, dressed sharp, handsome, and dashing as usual. Not a hair out of place, everything tailored to perfection, colors tasteful and patterns simple.
But one thing felt just out of place.
It was not his expression, his actions, or his smile. Chusheng was as diligent and serious about his work as ever.
It was only after Lu Yao had been called to the station that something clicked.
Lu Yao was also one to typically dress up with class and expensive taste. Today his dress shirt was a deep navy with expensive silver thread embroidery of peach blossoms around the collar and at his cuffs. His vest was also a staple gray, but the pinstripes were eye catching.
Lu Yao greeted everyone with his usual fanfare and japes, and it was after he greeted Adou and left for Chusheng’s office that Salim spoke up.
“Adou... Wasn’t Inspector Qiao wearing the same vest?”
“Huh?” Adou blinked and furrowed his brow. “Now that you mention it, I suppose it was similar. My mind was stuck on something else though.”
“What did you notice?”
“The color of Detective Lu’s shirt. And the embroidery... Didn’t it look like the scarf around Sir Qiao’s neck?”
“What are you two sitting around for?!” Chusheng’s voice suddenly pierced the air and Adou and Salim stood at attention. “Adou, here’s a witness. Bring them for a statement. Salim, Lu Yao wants you to go here and look for clues something shaped like this, he drew it here for you.” Adou and Salim accepted the slips of paper, but carefully tried to peer at Chusheng’s scarf. The shade of blue and the embroidered pattern they suspected were there.
“Um, Inspector... about your scarf...” Salim started, but his voice tapered off as Chusheng glared at him.
“It’s a scarf. What about it? Are you waiting for an invitation to do your jobs? GO!”
------
Lu Yao watched as Chusheng casually walked back into the office, but his eyes were fixed on the scarf that matched his shirt.
“So, was it too obvious?” Lu Yao asked. “Did they notice?”
Chusheng sat at his desk and rubbed his face. “They kept staring at the scarf.”
“Oh? Should we have picked something different?” Lu Yao smiled and sat across from Chusheng. “It is just a three month anniversary, after all. There was no need to be so forward.”
“This is only something forward to people as observant as you are,” Chusheng said without removing his hands.
“But, you have to admit...” Lu Yao gently pulled Chusheng’s hands away from his face. “I look good in it. Worth every silver dollar.”
Chusheng sighed, but Lu Yao watched his pupils dilate. “Yeah... worth every...” Chusheng reached out to fist his hand in the delicate silk. “Single...” Lu Yao felt Chusheng’s pull and didn’t resist. “Penny...” Chusheng’s lips were so close, Lu Yao could already taste them.
They drew closer and closer still.
“Sir Qiao!”
The two pulled apart quickly, with Lu Yao straightening out his shirt by patting out the wrinkles and Chusheng cleared his throat.
“Come in!”
“The witness is here!”
Chusheng hooked a finger into his scarf and adjusted it. Lu Yao watched the motion with hungry eyes. “Right. take him to the interrogation room. I’ll be there in just a minute.”
Lu Yao dusted off his hands. “I’ll come too.” Once the officer had left, Lu Yao turned to Chusheng with a smile. “Happy three months!”
Chusheng sighed, rolled his eyes, and pulled Lu Yao in for that kiss. The witness could wait one more minute.
