Let’s Learn Folk
I love folk music. Related: I have a love-hate relationship with themed folk offshoots (pirate folk, Steampunk, Dieselpunk). I have a wild hair to write a Steampunk song solely using traditional folk structures, instruments, and themes.
Which means that step one is to learn what makes traditional folk traditional. I’m a lyricist, not a composer, so anything beyond turns of phrase is beyond me. I’ll keep track of my progress here so y’all can come along on the journey.
