âIâm in shock too, but I mean it.â she told him giving him a coy look. There was definitely times where she didnât want to stab him in the heart, and he deserved to know that was the case. It was only fair. âThere are times where I actually enjoy your company.â she teased. âDonât get me wrong there are other times I still want to stab you in the heart, but youâre growing on me.â she grinned at him.

Hurt flashed in Elainâs eyes as she protectively covered her left hand that she still indeed wore that engagement on and averted her gaze. It was stupid to keep it, she knew that, but she wasnât ready to let go. Her heart couldnât let go of Greyson just yet, even after he broke her heart.
âThat.... Itâs different...â Her voice gone almost quiet. She knew he was right. Greyson himself had said heâd never marry her, but Elain did not understand (or perhaps did not want to understand) how he could throw away what they had so easily.  âIf I had still been human...â Her gaze shifted to him, brown eyes accusing behind the pain. âI would be married by now.â

Ares gave a small smile at his motherâs hyperbole, it had felt like years, but he could not deny that he had not been the same since she had disappeared from the mountain. He and his mother had a far closer relationship than he and his father. Each day that carried on even in her absence had his fury at his family grow and grow. How could they dare hold their pathetic meetings and discuss daily life when they had not searched the world for her. So he had left, and he doubted that anyone had really noticed.
Searching for her, he had tried to make it known that he was on his own. Not for Olympus, not for father, for himself. He was worried for her and the circumstances that had caused her to leave. Perhaps if this knowledge was spread around, she would make herself known to him when the time was right. It had worked.
The war god now stood before his mother and held back against the tide of worry and relief and fury that threatened to break him now. His mother was too powerful, too godly to be holed up in a place like this. His fists clenched a few moments before he let himself kneel before her.
âThen let me change that, mama.â His hands reached out for her, offering his arms to her as often she had done to him.

Kassandra was very confused and anyone would be able see it on her face but the confusion was also mixed with annoyance. She had spent several minutes fighting this baddie and this showoff took care of it like it was nothing, walking toward them she stepped onto the hilt of her sword and sent it flying into her waiting hand as she slid it into the scabbard on her back. âExcuse me, who the hell are you?âÂ
