If not, I'm just over sharing in your inbox lmao here is a messy ass irl parallel to Byler. When my brother was mad at his bestie for lack of contact, it was also the age before social media. They were 14 and we had a whole group of friends from these apartments we used to live at who it felt like they didn't contact us as much as we wanted them too, but we didn't realize that it wasn't for lack of trying. This was the dark ages of just one phone shared among the family and our mom was always on the phone with relatives or our straight brother hogged the phone day and night for his lady of the week. So, no one could really contact anyone as much as much as we wanted. After we were gone for four months we took a trip back to Texas to see everyone, they knew we were coming because my brother and I had the same friend group and I told his best friend's sister (who was my bestie) we were coming. My brother talked about his bestie Brandon everytime he made a new friend, but he stopped after a couple of months. I knew he wanted to see Brandon because he practically lit up at me mentioning going to see him but when our friends were waiting for us, but out of ten people Brandon was the only one he half ass hugged👀 when before, he and Brandon were inseperable. When we lived at the apartments, you knew anywhere my brother was Brandon would be there too. If Brandon went away to his grandma's for a weekend my brother would act like it was the end of the world. So for him to be so distant about someone I have literally seen him fall apart about was...odd. Especially when he gave hugs to the two kids that were MY friends and not his and not Brandon. Then his petty ass would flirt with Brandon's sister (my bestie) and her and I figured out together he was being sus because even though they had dated before, the feelings just weren't there and he hadn't tried his normal charms to get her back before today and we figured out that it was only specifically when Brandon was near. I thought my brother was being an asshole because Brandon seemed gay to me and we had homophobic parents. (Brandon did things familiar to my queer journey so I drew that conclusion and kept it to myself) But my friend reminded me that when we made it there, Brandon was laughing and playfully flirting with his new neighbor that moved into our old apartment. He didn't care about the lack of contact because everyone we saw that day had played a part in that, but he did feel like he was being replaced and it made him jealous. My bestie and I both confronted him separately and shortly after he treated Brandon better after that. They eventually secretly started dating, lmao I knew because I was Brandon's beard and he was mine. I'm sharing this because people really get harassed for digging into the subtext of queer couples but even non canon pairings have real life parallels and a lot of people aren't even just drawing conclusions from subtext, were using real life experiences. It's valid for people to have their doubts about fictional pairings but a lot of them are going out of their way to be dismissive, homophobic and verbally abusive. And I wanted to share this with you and your followers I guess so that when you feel like you're losing your mind, you're not. There are dozens of stories and perspectives I could share from mine, my brother's and other queer people I've had the honor of knowing's perspective. The only valid argument at this point to me is the duffers might be afraid of the way the audience will take with it but whatever y'know. Anyway, we should always have fun with fictional couples because if not, what's the point? Enjoy whatever you can, whenever you can in all aspects of life.
