i headcannon that squidward takes some of the money so he can pay for his hobbies, and spongebob slowly learned not to care.

While helping the girls with their spells and doing a commission, it backfires (I imagine explosions or things breaking aren't unusual in Olruggio's workshop - but being thrown into a wall and the kitchen rattling are), and Olruggio ends up with a bad concussion. Maybe him and Agott or Richeh were working on something when the spell combusted; Olruggio hugging the girls' to him, taking the brute of the explosion in order to protect them. He is more worried about the girls (who are perfectly fine despite a scratch or two), than he is himself - despite Qifrey fretting over him. Like seriously, concussions suck because of the headache and vomiting and dizziness and sensitive to light/ sound. I also imagine the first explosion (experiment Qifrey was apart of with Olruggio - Olruggio's idea), they both got hurt, and they end up lying in the grass before Olruggio bursts out laughing (despite bleeding from a cut on his head - all, "I can't believe we survived that!"), and Qifrey starts to fall for him at that moment. Beldaruit frets.

Olruggio works himself to exhaustion and comes down with a low-grade fever; however, he still has to deliver to the client. The night before, Qifrey tells him to rest, which he of course doesn't because he's worried about the commission being good enough; therefore, either 1 of 2 things happen: He either gets extremely worse in the night and misses delivering to the client due to fevered delirium (he of course tried several times, but Qifrey shot him down); or, he delivers to the client and comes back way worse than he left.

Olruggio, feeling guilt about not helping Qifrey with the housework or with the girls, helps by making dinner after a grueling commission. He ends up collapsing with a bad fever either during or after supper, to which Qifrey frets.

Olruggio has a migraine from hell. Either 1 or 2 scenarios: 1) He did well helping the girls with their spells up until a point when the migraine spiked, stabbing harshly behind his eyes. He stops explaining something in order to pinch the bridge of his nose, shield his eyes, double-over, etc. The girls panic and yell for Qifrey. OR 2) They all go on a field trip, Olruggio again has a migraine from hell (working till exhaustion is fun), and he's been fairly quiet throughout the journey (which Qifrey keeps giving him looks) while the girls and Qifrey gush over nature, etc. Eventually, everything spikes, and Olruggio stumbles, slamming into the back of Qifrey's cloak. He forces his eyes against the fabric, shielding himself from the sun as his knees give out, and Qifrey shouts his name as he turns to catch the burnette. He panics, the girls panicking, Olruggio eventually explains it's his head. Qifrey shields the other from the sun in his cloak or pressing his hand against his eyes to block out the sun. They head back, Qifrey carrying Olruggio despite the other stating he could walk (he was honestly unsure due to everything spinning). Back at the Atelier, Olruggio obviously goes through the whole migraine thing with vomiting, dizziness, etc; and Qifrey presses a cold towel against his eyes and forehead when he settles to let the cold dampness seep in.

Olruggio is fairly independent when hurt or ill; however, he gets clingy when it's really bad. He seeks out comfort when he feels like hell; for example, the episode where he was lounging in the common area while Qifrey taught Coco and Richeh. Like a high fever makes him want to be at Qifrey's side, his head in his lap or being held by him. Qifrey can always tell when it’s bad, when Olly feels absolutely awful by how clingy or the amount of comfort he wants/ is willing to accept.

A deal with a client goes bad or perhaps on the journey home, Olruggio ran into some ruffians looking to "steal" magic (idk honestly), and he arrives at the atelier hurt. He tries to take care of his wounds on his own, but Qifrey walks in on him in the kitchen patching up a wound on his side. Olruggio was really hoping the other would be asleep so he wouldn't notice the blood. He keeps telling Qifrey "not ta fret, it's just a scratch, Qifrey" even though it is MUCH more than a scratch, and he hisses every time Qifrey applies antiseptic which the ladder finds adorable.

Olruggio coming back from a business trip, comes back with a cold. Qifrey walks in on him in the kitchen, sitting on the floor as he got dizzy while trying to make tea to help with the nausea and fever. He stays on the floor while Qifrey makes him tea, and they both sit on the floor for a while until Olruggio falls asleep with his head on the other's shoulder.

Richeh stumbles into Olruggio's work quarters one morning while chasing brushbuddy and finds Olruggio sick or passed out on the floor. She screams for Qifrey which terrifies Qifrey because he's never ever heard Richeh be so loud before. I really want Richeh to yell one day, and Qifrey or even Olruggio be like "My baby! She's dying!!!!"

Brushbuddy keeps an eye on the household and alerts Qifrey when something is wrong. I picture Qifrey having a full-blown conversation with him, like "what do you want? You want me to follow you? Okay, okay, one second..."

Olruggio shows up at Qifrey's bedroom door one night. He felt like hell earlier, but now he's aware enough that he needs help because he's vomiting, high fever, dizzy, etc., but he isn't aware of much else. He either knocks on the door (and Qifrey thinks it Coco or Tetia with another nightmare), or either brushbuddy keeps scratching at the door, and Olruggio falls forward once Qifrey opens it. He's mostly delirious, and sweaty, and a huge mess. Qifrey cleans him up and sleeps with him (in Qifrey's bed), to monitor him/ take care of him.
