⤠ fourtimes my muse says they donāt love yours, and the one time theyadmit it.Ā
I. The first time started with a joy of two drunk teenagers, who had never experienced such an amount of alcohol flowing throughtheir systems. The building was empty, many windows broken, Yuseiand Jack laying on the ground with their heads close to each otherās,Jackās jacket under their backs as the only protection from cold.Closeness of his best friend was oddly comforting, aswell as the sound of rain outside, the soothing concoction includingeverything, along withthe faint scent of the other and his quiet voice, even if for a shortmoment Jack stopped listening. The realisation of happinesshe was feeling at the moment hit as a punch in the face ā butpunches never bring smiles, contraryto realisation that there is still something in the Satellite worthfighting for another day. Thetaller man tilted his head tothe side, and his eyes met Yuseiās.Ā Ā āAndKiryu⦠I really like him, you know?āJackclosed his slightly partedlips.
II.The second time he woke up inthe middle of the night. Jack meant to get a drink to help himselffall asleep again, but having headed to the kitchen, noticed that thelights in the garage were still one. A pair of amethyst eyes rolled, how many times he would reiterate that this way Yusei kept destroyinghis health? Swearingto himself that in the morning he would punch Brunoās idiotic facefor letting Yusei continue their shared work for such late hours,Jack went downstairs. He leaned over the sleeping man, however, theidea of covering him with a blanket died off in Jackās mind once hefelt the cold reigning around. One arm under Yuseiās knees, the other supporting his back, and Jacklifted him up, pulling close to his chest.Ā Back upstairs, close toYuseiās bedroom, Jackās attention was caught by a quiet voice, āYoukinda care, donāt you?āKinda?Care? Jack lackedwords to express how ridiculous it sounded, as ridiculous that for abreif moment Jack considered putting Yusei straight. But his body wastoo soft, too perfectly fitted into his arms, and his lips weredefinitely too close his friendās.Fortunately, pretending was mastered by him excellently.Ā āMaybe.ā
III.The next time took place the night after heād decided to leave the city. Thewords he wished to say himself, Jack expected Yusei to say out loud.Maybe he wanted to make it easier for himself, maybe his nervousnessstopped him from the confession if he was not ascertained the feelingwas mutual. Maybe he was afraid of ruining anything more. What Jackknew for sure was that he hadnāt been feeling that alone since thelong nights in Godwinās mansion. Withone difference: right now it was his choice, yet the promise wasbroken after another failed attempt to fall asleep.āWhy are you up?ā Jack grumbled after entering the other manās bedroom, seeing Yusei sitting on his bed. As though he was doing it out of spite, as though it he was testing Jackās limits purposely. And that was how Jack ended up in Yuseiās bed. Both lying on their sides, looking at each other, hands within a distance of less than one inch.Ā āYusei,ā Jack finally found enough courage to break the silence.āShh,ā the taller duellistās heart skipped as Yuseiās fingers gently grasped on his shoulder.Ā āI know. I will miss you too.ā
IV.Ā Another time was the most unexpected. During one of the tournaments within the scope of Riding Ace, Jack met up with Dragan. Nothing special, just a cup of coffee with a person heād grown to a state of kind of liking. Jack could blame only himself for getting off his guard during the conversation, what resulted with chocking on his beverage after the otherās question,Ā āWhy are you talking about him all the time?āĀ Ā āYou mean Yusei?āĀ Ā āYou know, Iāve heard about him more than your duelling successes. Admit, thatās⦠weird.āJack averted his eyes from the other, sipping his drink silently. No, he wasnāt talking, let alone thinking about Yusei more than normally just because he was talking to his and Yuseiās mutual friend.Ā Ā āI could even think that youāre in love.āThe words that were supposed to tease him brought an astonished, nearly embarrassed expression onto his visage, what oddly amused Dragan.Ā āDonāt say you areā¦?āĀ Ā āI donāt.ā
V. And the fifth time came during the most peaceful while. The Ace was over, and the new King finally returned home. Home. Not the flat above the garage, not even his old bedroom; the pair of strong arms wrapped around his waist while lying on a bed, long fingers fiddling with a longer wisps of his hair. All concerns that mightāve bothered his mind had vanished when heād become greeted with a firm embrace, and even up for now he was not allowing that soothing hold to be released in the slightest.Ā And although right nowtheir actions were speaking for themselves, never before those wordswould have sounded that right,Ā āI love you, Yusei.ā
