1.) What appeals you to the ship? Is it based off of canon interaction, personal headcanons, or are you not sure?

I am so endeared to the way Starling and Raven experience their love for each other. They both try so hard to hate each other and play the bad guy at the beginning, and yet it's impossible for them not to see the other's kindness. Not to NOTICE the good in the other even when it's obscured. Raven is a character who finds vulnerability very hard at first, and yet Starling knows her so well that he can easily see through her façade. Similarly, Raven trusts Starling more than any other person on their planet, and when he feels lost in the dark, she refuses to give up on him and offers him a way out.

3.) What do they like about one another? Include both physical and personality traits, anything they like.

Despite his best efforts, Starling falls fast for the awkward kindness that Raven displays for his friends. Stepping forward and taking the blow that would have killed Eagle/using metamorphosis to save Hawk's cane and preventing him having issues with the Government Branch/allowing the avians to practice fighting against her to train for their missions. She acts like she's doing it out of self-interest, but Starling can see through her. I think her kindness towards the people who matter most to him is even more important to him than her kindness towards HIM. She's there for him in his darkest moments where he worries he's losing himself and his soul to the Government Branch. He's forced to do terrible things to help collect information for the Revolutionaries and he starts to fear that he'll never escape it. But Raven risks everything to break him and his friends out and remind him who he is, giving him the last burst of hope he needs to succeed on his mission. Starling was a bit unnerved by Raven's hybrid appearance at first, but when he sees her wings during metamorphosis, he realizes that he believes she is "the most hauntingly beautiful thing" he's ever seen. Starling becomes enamored by Raven's rare smile and laugh, and gets offended when Kiro implies that Starling doesn't think Raven is beautiful/as beautiful as other hybrids think she is.

Raven, having been born into a world where she doesn't feel she belongs anywhere (neither spectra nor human), never experienced any real kindness, love, or friendship in her life before the avians. She didn't even have a name. The only twisted kind of affection she ever knew as "love" was from her father who was doing his best to lie, manipulate and control her for the humans' war. So when she meets Starling, someone who (despite the Government Branch's strict rules) makes it clear he cares deeply for his friends to the point of death, Raven immediately becomes intrigued by him. This strange kindness coming from the humans who she'd always seen as cruel, aloof and abusive was foreign to her. While they have a rough start, Starling quickly starts to see who she really is, and Raven is kind of terrified by this. But it's also freeing for her. Starling is probably the first person that Raven trusts enough to be vulnerable with about her feelings. He gave her her name, Raven, and invited her into the first family she's ever had. And his softness in a world that tries so hard to harden everyone's hearts is something she wants to protect no matter what. Raven loves Starling's smile, which she believes is like the sun--warm, bright, and promising hope for tomorrow.
