Friendship Week Day 1: Jerma & Star_!
On Youtube together for: 13+ years!
In the leadup to International Friendship Day, I'll be posting art for my favorite internet duos of all time!
I've always loved how Jerma and Star_ have had their intense rivalry with "divorced couple" energy for over a decade now! From TF2 to their fake breakup arc to modern collab streams, it's always a joy to see them together!
My favorite compilation of them:
sterma is genuinely the madonna / whore complex

true to life
"what's good?"
"nothin'. Nothin's good. I'm emo."
The "you shouldn't be here" TF2 strat. Pioneered by STAR_ a decade ago. Take a couple of Spies with Ambassadors and perhaps add Dead Ringers and/or Cloak and Daggers to taste. Camp somewhere semi out of the way that nobody would normally have any reason to stay for any length of time -- just, the stupidest spot you can pick. The location should be off to the side of the path from the enemy team to the gameplay objective, somewhere they wouldn't see unless they were specifically looking for it, preferably with line-of-sight to the objective. Then, as members of the enemy team pass you by, you just shoot at them with Ambassadors from as far away as possible.
The goal isn't to stop the enemy team from completing their objectives, any more than that's the goal of a single Heavy-and-Medic duo. Rather, the goal is to annoy them. Distract and confuse them. Make them wonder "What's hap-- what am I getting hit by!?" Every minute the enemy spends paying attention to you is a minute they aren't paying attention to the much-closer enemies, or more importantly to the gameplay goal. And once they've figured it out, once you've pissed off enough enemies in this way, the entire enemy team will come after you: as the video itself says, "You can't just let two spies that you know are gonna be somewhere live. The [control] point doesn't matter anymore. You gotta kill those spies, because fπ¦k spies." This of course means that the balance is now slightly shifted in favor of the team that does care about it.
But now that the meta has been established, you start messing with it. The other team will keep attacking that one spot with extreme prejudice, for obvious reasons. So what you do is, you find a second vantage point, from which you can Ambassador-snipe the other team as they attack your original point. Mix it up: one of you stays at the original spot (this is where Dead Ringer comes in handy) and the other goes to the new vantage point. They get distracted by someone at the new spot, someone close to the original point backstabs 'em. Keep 'em guessing. Stay flexible, of course, in case an enemy Spy comes after you.
Q. "Why don't we just do this as Snipers?" A. "... Shut up."
(your team loses) "Oh, come on!"
