ugh yes.  That part annoys me so much.  But I do understand how/why it happened.  Everyone always told Rory how driven she is, but she never actually put herself out there -- Paris wanted to be president, so she made Rory be vice president; Rory was unanimously appointed editor of the Yale Daily News without running for it.  It wasn’t until Huntzberger told her she didn’t have that she was like ‘screw you, yeah I do.’  But she had to fall apart so she could put herself back together.  And it was Jess who told her that she had lost herself.  When she saw how much he had changed and how stagnant she was, she got herself back together.  Because if her lazy jerk ex boyfriend could do something with his life, Rory DEFINITELY can do something with hers.  And that’s why Rory is awesome.  She works hard, but she needed to learn that not everything could be handed to her.  It made her better to go through all that.  And it helped her understand Lorelai’s relationship with Richard and Emily, because Rory lived through it as well. (though that makes me really sad for a lot of reasons too)
