Day 30 of #100daysofhealing . . Dandasana - Staff Pose. During my yoga teacher training, we were having class with an Iyengar Yoga teacher and as she was adjusting my back she placed her palm parallel to where the back of my heart would be and said:. . âThis is the area where #deppression lives. This is why, when you feel down you collapse your chest and hunch over. If you straighten your back and open your chest, you tell your body you are ok and ready to go. Your brain will release endorphins and calm your nervous systemâ. And once again she pressed her palm on my back and repeated lowering her voice: This is where YOUR depression lives, you can release it nowâ. . I started sobbing uncontrollably and the entire class just stayed there, no judgement, no hurry, no words of sympathy. They were baring witness to a pain I had not allowed myself to grieve. It was a tough yet beautiful moment, that cracked my heart open and taught me the true meaning of what holding space for someone means. . The meaning of this pose is to rest in the power of our own true self to find the balance within. Yoga has changed my life one pose at a time. . Please check my stories for pointers on this pose and a short demo... with a special guest appearance đ đļ!. . . #dandasana #staffpose #yogaforall #doodleyogi #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthactivist #arttherapy #weareallinthistogether #breathe #youarenotalone #womenwhodraw #illustration #tombowdualbrushpens #backtobasics #rewildyourheart #creativeliving https://www.instagram.com/p/BpNN2fvB2jt/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=s7oqmc6iwzgb
