un ironically this lobotomy posting shitpost video is probably the best representation of SSRI withdrawal for me
As we are experiencing the first heat wave of the year over here in Europe: this is your yearly reminder that if you are on SSRIs or SNRIs (that is: antidepressants) you need to be careful with the heat, as a common side effect of both kinds of medications is that your body is worse in self-controlling its temperature, making you prone to overheating. Keep to the shadows. Keep yourself cool. Make sure you drink enough. Try to stay in temperature controlled rooms if you can.
Be careful with the heat.
Sometimes I find myself thinking of my ssri like it should be a happiness pill in a bottle and it doesn't end up feeling that way, so I wonder if it's really even working? And I have to remind myself, that's not what it does. It's like a knee brace. I'm not suddenly going to take Lexapro and be able to instantly be happy, just like I couldn't put on a brace and immediately run a marathon. But now I can walk to the store. And now I can go pick up my prescription and not be so anxious about it that I make myself dizzy or not have my brain literally buzzing with the sirens going off in it or not making myself cry from the stress of it. It's a support tool, not the entire fix.

This is your "oh shit it's getting hot again" reminder that SSRIs / antidepressants cause sun sensitivity and make you more prone to dehydration. Stay hydrated babes.
MANY medications can make you more sensitive to the heat. PSych meds are notorious for it, but its not JUST those. please be careful , especially if you have started a new med (or higher dose) since last summer
