I made this piece for my father for Father’s Day, finished last night. It’s one of my largest ones and one of the first I’ve sort-of designed on my own from existing patterns that I put together. The design assets come from a couple of different places:
The Bunsen Burner with test tube and the flask are from here. I was originally going to just do that pattern, then realized it was more labor-intensive than I wanted and I didn’t care for the look of the font, so I made those two items and then stopped.
The atom is actually a Lego Brick pattern, found here.
The font is here on Pintrest, I don’t know the original source.
The periodic table is freehanded. I looked at a graphic of an actual periodic table and put in one square of cross stitch for each square on it, assigning them colors based on what group each element was in on the original image.
I sewed it to purple cloth backing afterward that may or may not have been cut from a hankerchief because that’s all I had. I’m not sure what he’ll do with it, possibly frame it and put it in his office. He actually does have a lab but it’s not that kind of lab and I don’t think they let you put your child’s craft projects up on the walls there.
My dad was busy being proud of me last weekend so he had to delegate all disapproving looks to Snowflake.

My parents aren’t doing great at the Chametz hunt this year.

Helping my dad with a dull lecture.
Forgot I'd given my dad this. It's a J. Jonah Jameson figure that comes with 'desk pounding action'.
I LOVED Man from UNCLE when I was a kid. My friends and I made badges, had plastic guns, and dressed up in our suits. Still have a picture of us around somewhere.
My dad on my new fandom. Please note he would have been between fifteen and eighteen at the time. Nerdy cosplay apparently runs in the family.
