Spent my day getting the sick ass exotic ships that I wanted
A squid ship soars past a settled asteroid. Officially designated the cephalopod-class brig, this human ship design might have been invented by escaping prisoners who salvaged parts from Illithid nautiloids. (Eric Olson, from Spelljammer supplement CGR1: The Complete Spacefarer’s Handbook, TSR, 1992)
Gakishiz S42 discovered in Mabovke System
Found another squid ship! This may even be the same one I first saw back just after I'd started playing NMS, before I knew what exotic starships even were, or had a clue about how rare the squids are. I spotted it, thought the shape was pretty cool but didn't like the colour, and anyway as a new player I didn't have anything close to the 20k+ it would have cost to acquire. And then once I did know how rare it was, I couldn't remember which of the dozens of stations I'd been to by then it had been at.
Anyway, stumbled over it today while finishing cleaning up my original save game (as of a few minutes ago I've finally deleted the last of the ~100 bases I had built beside starship crash sites). Grabbed one for myself, and then said what the hell why not and grabbed a second, which I traded to a S-level pilot and then recruited him to my squadron.

Been playing some more No Man's Sky since the recent update that revamped settlements. A few days ago I decided to depart Euclid and go dive through a galaxy centre in one of the other galaxies I had unlocked on this save, but never dove from - Nudquathesenfe - to unlock another galaxy, because why not. Did some minor adventuring there while working my way to a system where I could make the jump to the centre, in the course of which I found another exotic weapon (minor yay).
Jumped through the centre, and found myself in Getaizakaal. After repairing my damaged suit technology and summoning my freighter, I popped up to it to scan the system's planets before starting exploring. Jogged down to the flight deck to pick which ship I wanted to explore in, looking around to make a choice - waitaminute, why is there a gek inspecting my blue squid ship? Obviously, because it's not my blue squid ship, it's his blue squid ship (major yay!). So this is now the third squid starship I've found on this save. Bought his one to look over. It appears to be a very subtly darker blue than my own, as you can see in the final screenshot where I have it (far left), my existing one (middle), and my turquoise one landed in a row.
Didn't keep it, I'm getting near the maximum number of starships I can keep on this save, and if I'm going to have a third squid it's going to be one that's a noticeably different colour, not just a shade off. But enjoy the address of a squid ship in a galaxy far, far away.
(Also, I love that the address display now includes the galaxy information - I wish that had been around back when I was regularly screenshotting dozens of starships in a day. Would have made keeping track of where they were taken so much easier!)
Also, after all the effort to jump galaxies, all I did was find a couple of new settlements to claim, and then went right back to farting around in Euclid again.
Though I am thinking it might be interesting to set up to do a long chain of galaxy dives (as in actually de-equip all my exosuit's technology before starting it, and not reequipping until the end of the chain - normally I don't bother protecting the suit tech). In theory I'd have little-to-no need of a kitted out exosuit during the series, since apart from going down to a planet long enough to portal inwards in each galaxy, I would mostly be doing stuff in my freighter, starship, and the odd space station (to salvage burnt out starships and buy a working starship for the next dive). And then once I've had enough of unlocking new galaxies, use the stations I'd located to travel between them and build a base or find a settlement to take control of in each. Because I have very little new stuff to do in Euclid at this point.
