Hi it’s-a me-a, 🪼 anon once again. I can’t help but feel a slight bit of envy at the reach your works have been able to garner, as well as the praise bestowed by kind commenters. Yes I know you’ve worked extremely hard, yes I know your writing is very well crafted, yes I know that your level of skill and fame is the result of countless thankless hours poured into your passion, but I still get the emerald color surfacing itself against my skin. Especially when silly works that were HORRIBLY done in the past by yours truly did so much better than something I legitimately put forth so much effort into. Hopefully that all makes sense and I don’t come off as some vindictive prick, because you absolutely deserve all the love and attention your fics have gotten.
Hello, jellyfish anon! Allow me to attempt to ease that green feeling, at least to the best of my ability.
Remember, I've been doing this writing thing for a while. And when I say a while, I mean a long while. For reference, my oldest project that's still exists is from 2017, but I was writing probably before then (I've just deleted the evidence). And you know who I was writing for back then? Myself, a penny, a potato chip, and a napkin. The readers that did appear were rare, and it was like that for a while until a few popped in and decided to linger. And it stayed like that for a long time.
Things started slowly changing as I continued writing and befriended fellow budding writers. That was my biggest achievement at the time, making mutuals with others. I'll be honest, I thought they were better than me. Then I realized that wasn't a good mindset to have, so I tried to focus more on myself and improving my own skills. Now I know that some are better but in certain ways like maybe they have a more flowery writing style I adore but I'm not good at that, but then they like something about my writing that they aren't good at. That's just how it is.
I'm getting off track. I was going to say that my old works have that much attention because they've been around for a long time. Especially the ones from Quotev. They started off with nothing, only the occasional read on it. As time passes, people just find it and the number accumulates over the years so it looks like something genuinely popular when in reality, it's really not. Hopefully that makes sense?
As for the kind words I get from readers, I've noticed that it's somewhat uncommon to hear anything from readers. Most are lurkers and remain silent (admittedly, I tend to do that a lot). This is just a random number I'm putting out, but say you got ten readers who like your work but only one really makes their presence known either by commenting or reblogging or something along those lines. That's still ten readers who like your work.
That's why I think readers should be a little more vocal if they're able and willing, because it does wonders for writers to know that someone is really there and likes their work! I'm currently trying to improve on that by leaving likes or comments whenever I genuinely like something.
Anyways, I've gone on long enough. I hope that somewhat helps? Give it time, anon. These things don't just happen overnight. As long as you genuinely enjoy writing and put forth the effort, people will notice. I wish you the best on your writing endeavors! ✨

I’d say part of the difference between ranboos (the guy) is that at one point that motherfucker was both closeted and in a religious home so. That may add to it.
