Thinking so hard about this vigilante au tonight. It feels pretty rare for me, personally, to read a fic where their aimsey is not the main character but still absolutely steals the show. JOM!Aimsey is so great, they're a hero who is lying about their power in a way that is very funny, but functionally really cool. In a fic dealing with life and death having someone who can walk the middle and show us the view of the dead works SO WELL both in giving us a final conversation with a permanently dead other character and reiterating the impending doom of the corruption spreading in the background of all the more human conflict. JOM!Aimsey is on the fringes of every major plotpoint. They're friends with Tubbo, who is an epicenter of some huge problems. They're a contact for the heroes. They're sympathetic to the vigilantes. Aimsey is truely a bridge of a character between every converging path of the narrative. GOD the JOM!Tubbo too. I'm a big c!Tubbo enjoyer. A big clingyduoer one might say. I love me a Tubbo that is absolutely fucking miserable trying to take on the entire world on his own to protect Tommy and the other vigilantes. Clingyduo in this fic are opposite ends of the same scheme being unable to escape no matter how desperately they're trying. I love when writing is good. I love when the real antagonist is quietly but clearly looming in the background. I love when a fic isnt afraid to main character death and phenomenal at giving those deaths weight.
