My Accupuncturist taught me this one; when you’re cooking rice in a pot after about 5/6 min, open the lid and add any veggies you want steamed or even thin (like incredibly thin) slices of chicken. Don’t mix it in just set it on top the rice and cover back up for the remainder of the rice cooking time. Afterwards it’ll have perfectly steamed the veggies and you’ve saved time on sautéing and on cleanup as you’ve only used on pot.
