Plugged In: second appointment this week, second #hospitalglam. The amazing news is I had a Super Hero Day and not only got myself out of bed, but put on makeup and made it to my cardiologist appointment on time. The Cardiologist Curse has finally been broken after six or seven failed appointments. The universe must have been looking out for me as I had a really fun tech who loved the yellow lipstick and the doctor I saw was friendly and knew about #POTS. Since my heart seems to be in good shape despite the painful palpitations, we’re going to plan on scheduling me once a year unless something new rears up. I’d like to take a moment to thank this exceptionally bad flu season for making it even -harder- for me to leave home. The good news is that I did leave home. I got my much-needed therapy while wearing Tide Pod inspired makeup (“you look so fresh and clean!” -my therapist). On the way home I drove very slowly through a large park that is fairly easy to access from where I live. It’s mostly big open fields, which is a disappointment. I was hoping for some nice old trees to hang out with - they have the best stories. But perhaps next time I’ll stop the car. Maybe even get out. I have been in such a pissy mood that I didn’t dare draw a card until after I took a bath and chilled out a bit. I asked specifically for something to keep me out of trouble. Spirit Dancer says to focus on a creative project, and to bring self discipline along for focus. So I think I’ll keep planning out my #TimeForTea monthly boxes. I have ideas out through September and I need to look through my herbal inventory and think about what herbs I’ll need to buy in bulk and which I should get in small quantities. This is one of the pictures I took for my makeup account today. I had a bath (though this cold has my inner ear upset so I was super queasy the whole time) and put on my make up because it’s a small source of joy. I bought this at the first Kinetic Carnival, back when I had a life beyond feeling sick 24/7 (or I kind of did). For those of you who are newer in my life, you might not know that I used to vend at small steampunk festivals and I loved it. I loved packing up and getting on the road, loved hanging out under the easy up all day, eating out of an ice chest, meeting new people, seeing amazing costumes, trading goodies with my neighbors, fighting off chilly mornings with a thermos of tea and hot afternoons with a snow cone from a fellow vendor, all of it. I guess in a different life I could have been in a carnival, either telling fortunes or maybe making these hyper mobile joints into a contortionist act. My #cardoftheday is the Singer of Connection. It’s really just as it appears: connection, reconnection, awareness of building and removing connections. Interesting, as I just got off the phone with a friend that used to call me daily (but it had been a week since we last spoke). I am definitely examining (and lamenting) our waning connection, but I’m not quite sure how to approach the subject. Maybe that’s why the Honesty card kept popping up. I won’t force a friendship that’s becoming one-sided, no matter how much it pains me to watch it fade off. I’m having a cup of Samhain tea with honey and rice milk and it’s soothing what feels like the beginning of a sore throat. Today’s card, The Laume, suggests I take some time to do kind things for others. This can be challenging for me, as money has almost run out (living the Go Fund Me Life) and my health doesn’t allow for volunteer work. But a while back I did pack up some items I’d made and sent them out to people I thought would enjoy them. It was really nice to get their messages of gratitude, so perhaps I should pack up a few goodies. Today’s weird makeup is casting shadows where they shouldn’t be. Also, I heard a neighbor ask another one, “Have you seen my underwear?” Very casually. I guess they’re not expecting anyone to have their windows open this time of year.

I feel like I’m stuck in a mud bog and I tell the faeries that I need my ass kicked and they give me Geeeeooo the Slooow. 🤷‍♀️ I honestly think the last thing I need to do is slow down and think things over. I already have too much time with my thoughts and overanalyze every single detail of my life. I asked for a companion card and I got Honesty again. For the second time, my companion card is telling me that I’m not being honest with myself. I think I’m stymied here. I’m usually one of the most realistic people - that’s how you survive being chronically ill, you keep yourself on a realistic path. I could dive into the world of brutal honesty, but that’s bound to cause way more problems than it fixes.
