I don't get how some people are like "there's no proof that identitities using the split attraction model even exist, therefore, no one can use the SAM." That is wrong for two reasons:
1: People's sexualities are not based on whether scientists have ""proved"" them. If bisexuality had never 'prooved' by a scientist, would you say it's not real? If you say yes, then what the heck because people can figure out their own sexuality without a scientist proving it first. Sexuality is not like somwthing to be diagnosed. (how tf would you ""proove" a sexuality anyway? would you check for arousal (which is not attraction) or maybe emotional response to a crush (which could be friendship, you can't tell from that)?).
2: Of course the split attraction model has not been proved yet, because it is mostly used on the internet AND there's a lot of controversy on it. You can't just expect scientists to go on tumblr once a month and find new sexualities to prove. They have other things to do.
We (people who use the SAM) don't need the approval of some scientist or doctor to say that we exist.
The Split Attraction Model doesn't force anyone to do anything.
This model simply existing does nothing. It doesn't force anyone to describe their attraction in separate, distinct boxes. It allows this to happen, but doesn't force it.
The split atraction model only says that attraction can be split, not that it has to be.
NO ONE is forcing you to put your attractions into discrete boxes.
The SAM is useful for some people, but it is NOT for everyone. If you can't separate your attraction into separate categories, don't force youself to separate it.
And definitely don't tell other people that their attraction can't be split just because yours can't be.
