My spirituality has really been lacking. I used to have so many moments of feeling at peace and comfort, but so many things have happened in the past year that have really hurt me along with past trauma, and I just feel so miserable a lot of the time. I miss when my spirituality was at such a high peak and I don't know how to reach that place again. I always feel like I'm experiencing depersonalization in one way or another. Any tips?
Your spirituality, is that old trauma and that old hurt. They are what needs your attention and your love. There isn’t a spiritual magic spell that can make all of that go away. Make those your primary focus and they will lead you to things that all spiritual practices only gleam.
These things that come up and pull you, are simply what need your attention. To distract yourself from them is to deny them and to deny the very fact that they are god in action. They are divinity living.
There is no way out of that hurt. Facing it and loving it the way it needs to be loved is the way to expand and to grow. Call that spiritual or whatever you like. The key to all of this is loving and surrendering to these things that life brings you and has brought you.
Feel, breathe and let what is in you have, space patience and your soft attention. Be with what you feel and simply feel it. Relax everything and let it all have you. Breathe softly and hold your attention in all of these things. Feeling these thing let’s them go through their life-cycle and releases them. They’ll get what they need and so they’ll begin to unburden you.
Simply turn your attention to these feelings and emotions and see that they aren’t something you need to pull out of you or cast off as evil, they are what will lead you to your highest growth. Get to know these things. Get to know that hurt older you that was traumatized and still lives within you. Let all of this have that your have the patience and the love it never got. Give it what it craves and truly needs.
It’s understandable to want to run from all of this hurt and pain. That running is what most people will tell you to do, but it isn’t in the direction of healing and of releasing these old things. Now, you can go in slowly and touch these things slowly. They may be scary and so doing so slowly maybe what is best. This does take bravery, but only at the start. Going into these things you’ll see that they are only scaring you to get your attention and to get you to love them. Try to see or sense this and change your relationship to them. They are your feelings, love them as no one else can and begin to allow those things to shift, allow the Love and the support of the Universe to finally find you. Allow it all to being to work for you and not against you, this is all done by changing your relationship to these things you encounter within.
Much Love and I hope this helps,
~greg
Plan Your Life With Faith, Not Pressure
In today’s fast-paced world, staying productive often feels overwhelming. Many Muslims struggle to balance daily goals with prayers, spiritual growth, and personal well-being. This is where a purpose-driven system like Muslim Planner becomes valuable.
A Muslim planner is not just about to-do lists. It helps you align your daily actions with Islamic values by encouraging intention (niyyah), consistency in salah, gratitude, and mindful time management. When planning is rooted in faith, productivity becomes meaningful rather than stressful.
Using a faith-based planner allows you to track goals while staying connected to what truly matters—your relationship with Allah. It reminds you that success is not only measured by output, but by sincerity, discipline, and balance in life.
If you want to learn how Islamic productivity can transform your routine and help you plan with clarity and purpose, explore the resources available at Muslim Planner. Visit https://muslimplanner.com/ to start building a lifestyle that blends faith, focus, and intentional living.

"The natural world is a spiritual house ... Man walks there through forests of physical things that are also spiritual things, that watch him with affectionate looks." Charles Baudelaire
There is no difference between the physical and the spiritual. The ancients once thought material was evil, bad, corruptible, whilst spiritual was good, holy, and healthy. The world is what it is. We need to treat it with as much respect and love as we treat ourselves and one another. As has been said, we do not leave the world to our children; we borrow the world from them. Let's not have them regret making the loan. © keefderpoet, 2025

Wisdom from the past – Psalm 34:18
The book of psalms is a wealth of wisdom. For my regular readers you know I am not a Christian, I am a pagan heathen. That doesn’t mean that religious texts and doctrine are without merit. How did Bob Dylan put it? “We always did feel the same we just saw it from a different point of view”. We aren’t here for Dylan’s wisdom, we are here for the psalm. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and…
