spiritine: a recoining & info post!
spiritine is a gender quality and umbrella term that describes an identity directly connected to or representing one’s spirituality. although separate from the gender binary, how this is interpreted is completely up to the individual — some examples are not being able to separate one’s spiritual and queer identity, or feeling that one’s queer identity is spiritual. although not inherently a xenogender, spiritine may overlap with spirituality-focused xenic identities.
by definition, terms like religiogenders, spirituality-themed terms, and identities heavily influenced by one’s spiritual beliefs would fall under the spiritine umbrella. it can be used in the same way that any other gender quality can, referring to one’s gender, presentation, alignment (see spiric), and more.
spiritine was originally coined on 24th March 2022, and has since included the following sub-terms and flags:
spirgender: an umbrella term for all genders that are spiritine or spiric-aligned; can also be used on it’s own to describe a gender related to one’s spirituality.
spiric: a spiritine gender alignment; the spiritine equivalent of xenic.
SPXIN: stands for spiritine-in-nature
transpiritine / transpir: an umbrella term for those who identify as, or are transitioning towards, a spiritine/SPXIN identity. it may refer to someone’s gender identity, expression, or both, and can also be used as an umbrella for all non-cis spirgender labels.
demispiritine / demispir: a term for all identities that are partially spiritine / spirgender, and partially something else.
spiiret: the spriritine equivalent of man/women; a spiritine person.
spi- & -iir: suggested prefix and suffix for spriritine terms, but not compulsory.
anyone is free to coin their own terms under the spiritine umbrella - feel free to tag me if you do! :)
