Becoming disabled is probably the hardest thing that's happened to me. Not only is it terrifying, but I'm also grieving. I grieve the life that I missed out on, but I also grieve the life that I will miss. Giving up on hopes and dreams. I also realize that I'm allowed to feel this way. There are 100% times that I feel I'd be better off dead. That it would be easier to deal with than all of this pain and suffering. But my story isn't over yet. I may not be living the life that I wish I could have, but I do eventually hope to find my path in life.
So I was having a conversation with my best friend and we were commiserating about back problems. I mentioned that very often when I lay down my lower back will be in extreme pain for several minutes before settling while my spine decompresses. This is something that happens to everyone when they're on their feet for too long but I feel like it happens to me more frequently after developing scoliosis. I'm curious now if other people with scoliosis also feel this way
Do you feel like this happens to you more often/more easily than to other people?
I have scoliosis, yes, I feel this way
I have scoliosis, no, I don't feel this way
I have a spinal fusion, yes, I feel this way
I have a spinal fusion, yes, I used to feel this way and don't anymore
I have a spinal fusion, no, I don't feel this way
I feel like absolute hell right now. Complete misery. I had hope I was recovering a little more, but my terrible immune system decided to throw yet another curveball at me.
When will I know peace? When will I get a chance to breathe?
spinal hardware is absolutely wrecking my shit lately with pain and neuropathy and I have dropped at least a dozen things today while trying my absolute hardest to hold on to them. having an mri without contrast in a week :/
