Peter wasn't worried about Pied Piper escaping, there were very few people with enough brute strength to break free of his webs. He was however little worried he'd still be able to get at him using his powers, even if he couldn't get free with them. “Haven't you ever seen Scooby Doo? I feel like what happens next is pretty obvious.” He jumped down in front of Pied Piper as he spoke, having been perched sideways on the wall across from him in the alleyway in a crouching position.
He was maybe a foot away from him when he landed and reached out towards him, it felt like a violation to pull off someone's mask but there was a reason for it. Minimizing the backlash against people close to them when their identity got out being just 1 of many, after what happened with Vulture in Highschool Tony had in Peters insistence set up a fund to help the family's of both Heroes and Villains basically go into witness protection if their identities got out and it was unsafe for them.
He moved quicker than most would be able to react normally, let alone when bound with his webbing. A flash from his Spidey Sense told him something was off, but didn't set off a 'danger' warning and it almost made him hesitate. It was only maybe half a second and then he pulled the mask up anyway, when he did he froze for a moment before letting go with the mask falling to hang around his neck.
He spun around and started talking in a hushed whisper that was maybe a little louder than he meant it to be. “Yeah I know, I don't know. No I didn't know Karen.”
"Usually in Scooby-Doo, actual ghosts aren't involved. I thought I might get away with that one," He mused playfully. He leaned his head back, away from the hand, but that was all instinct. He couldn't actually prevent the mask from coming off.
He felt the weight hang from his neck in an almost metaphorical sense, like it was the noose of his upcoming life in prison. He exhaled. Nettie knew this day was going to come, he'd known from the moment he woke up, holding that kid in his arms after his mother passed. There was no way he could get away with this all his life - he just thought he could get a few more kids before it happened. That's all.
Then Spider-Man started talking. To no one. Nettie furrowed his brow, lifting his head once more to see the red and blue-clad hero whispering.
"I'm not a Karen," Nettie pointed out. "Is this some... Iron Man thing? You have a Friday or whatever it is in there?"
