Birthday cake 2020: Biscoff fault line cake

Brunching may actually be one of the most popular weekend activities in NYC. I think majority of my paycheck may actually go towards regularly scheduled brunches with my friends. Most brunches already offer some sort of discounted bottomless or unlimited menu. This past weekend, a friend and I ventured over to the Lower East Side to check out the brick and mortar café storefront of famed food truck, Wafels & Dinges.

We walked into the most intoxicating smell of freshly pressed waffles. For those of you who don’t know, Wafels & Dinges is pronounced, way-fuls and din-jes (this was news to me).

After reviewing the extensive menu, we ordered some brunch. I ordered the Chicken ‘N Gravy Wafel Biscuits, while my friend opted for the Wake up Grumpy! Both solid choices. The Chicken ‘N Gravy Wafel Biscuits has two savory mini wafels smothered in chicken & mushroom gravy with a side of greens. For anyone who is indecisive and deals with the constant struggle of lunch or breakfast food when at brunch, this was IT. So. Much. Gravy. The Wake Up Grumpy! is a wafel-biscuit with egg, maple syrup & cheese - with or without bacon (but we got bacon, of course). The sweet maple syrup contrast to the salty bacon, egg, and cheese was incredible.

We read reviews about the unique ice cream flavor, spekuloos, that is served at Wafels & Dinges and had to try it, in a waffle (or wafel) cone. The gingerbread flavored ice cream made with chunks of the traditional cookie. It was incredible! It’s like missing Christmas in the summer and getting a taste of it without the cold weather outside. Marketing Manager Paul DeKams has enjoyed the BBQ Pulled Pork Wafel and the Bacon and Syrup Wafels. His review was that they are both fantastic savory and sweet flavor combinations
