So the last time I signed up for an online dating site was a good ten years ago. I remember it being a huge pain in the ass. Free membership, then it's not free, then you have to pay more to actually talk to your matches, blah, blah, ick. After yet another dating fiasco with an X-Marine, and at the urging of my closet man friend I signed up for Tinder. Well, I should say I downloaded the app, and I was a bit concerned that it made me signup via FB initially, but I discovered that all your personal information isn't disclosed. Tinder just shows mutual friends you may have, a few random pictures, and a bio if the user takes the time to put one up. Anyone remember that site called 'Hot or Not' ? Tinder is exactly like that, except it's not a numbering system, you can click the x or the heart. If you both click the heart you are then matched and you have the option of messaging. It's very straight forward. No muss no fuss, and that in and of itself is very refreshing. Now' a days dating is hard. I've always felt like Salt Lake is a very small pond, but Tinder would suggest otherwise. In online dating world I feel like a rare and exotic bird, and I can have my pick of men. Of course, like any dating site you have to weed through the creeps. "Insert Man Name Here" was cute in an emo dark way and his profile mentioned, 'he was working on his culinary skills' so I asked him what he meant by that and he responded with something along the lines of 'well it doesn't mean cooking babies, but that'd be funny.' I have a feeling he was trying for hipster eccentricity, but it didn't work...
