*scratches head* well you see i kinda lost where this meme came from because i forgot to tag it (as usual) - or perhaps you sent it earlier and tumblr somehow coughed it back up just now?

either way, I believe this meme was about saying one thing about why are we writing our OCs the way we do, right?

With Caspiron, I talk a lot about why is he the way he is. He basically embodies the whole message that the first Dark Souls game would deliver - life is hard, life is cruel; it will bring you down, do terrible things to you, can destroy you from the inside-out, and you may lose your entire self if you give up - just a creature, adrift, without purpose, without a fate, with no hand to guide them, not even an inner drive.

Caspiron is a pathetic excuse for a knight, if we speak of physical traits. He is sickly - almost downright frail -, with no particular talents either in rhetorics or the arts, despite his relative extensive education as the son of a noble family. He is soft spoken, quiet - the only thing he may have going on is his charm and kindness, which are things that would help him very little in the dying world in which he was thrust into.

And yet, he prevails. Because he has a purpose, has convictions, things that he can stick to, a promise that he is honor-bound to fulfill, and it is enough, just enough to keep him going.

He is a character that I desperately needed at the time when I created him. I adore him with all my heart - he is a sort of... depression-recovery character.

He is one of my most important OCs to me. He is so very close to my heart, even now, as I have less and less depressive thoughts - partly thanks to him, actually! There is something to be said about a relentlessly kind character prevailing over every hardship that is thrown at them - trying, trying, trying every time, even after failing so much.

It just feels so good to me, it is unreal.

... I am not sure how much have I gone off tangent here, but, yeah. A bit of a rambly appreciation for one of my favourite, main OCs.
