So, I just wanted to let you all know that I’ve done a lot of soul-searching and reevaluating my thought processes and I’m no longer comfortable identifying as otherkin. I’m not sure what my identity actually is, but I can say with confidence that the way I was manifesting it through this blog and the “about me” kind of bits was not fully how I feel. To be honest, I don’t know how I feel. I’m not sure if there is something inhuman about me or not. But for now, I’m going to forego such titles.

I think that grabbing hold of alien-ness and robotic-ness was a way for me to begin to process and cope with a new understanding of myself as autistic. I also think it was a way for me to get closer to, and more fully be immersed in, my special interest at the time (Star Trek). Whatever the reason, I’m aware now that such an identity doesn’t mesh with me any longer.

That doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop using this blog. I will continue it as more of a hub of cyberpunk and robotic and alien aesthetic and kin positivity (because even though I no longer consider myself kin, I still think beings who are deserve all the positivity that they can get). But I feel as though honesty with you all is important so that you know that I no longer come from a place of complete understanding and lived experience of kin-ness.

I’ll jump of the band wagon and introduce myself:

My kin name is Squid (but I go by Kris as well, so if Squid is weird to you, feel free to call me Kris). I’m a 22 autistic college student studying writing and anthropology. I use xe/xim pronouns (he/him is also ok, but I want to try and ease into using the other ones). I call myself genderqueer or genderfluid, but I think it’s more accurate to call myself “alien gender” because I think that wherever I’m from has a completely different gender schema than the one here. I consider myself some form of masculine androgynous. 

My kintypes are nebulakin, alienkin, and tech/robot/ai/androidkin. I identify with, but not as, squidkin, dragonkin, and glitchkin. I also really like the aesthetic of voidkin, but don’t feel any sort of kinship with that identity. I call myself a starseed too because my kin identities have a lot to do with spirituality for me and “starseed” encapsulates that more completely, at least in my opinion.

My kin blog is sparkself despite the fact that my main blog will most likely show up here. I also have an autism blog and a cyber wixcraft one, so if you’re interested in knowing any of those URL’s you can let me know!
