Project Sparkles Cancellation
I hate to be all matter-of-factly with this post because this event has always been very close to all of our hearts. For 5 years we came together to celebrate what made us unique. It made our community based in love and giving. So with a heavy heart I have to announce that Project Sparkles will be discontinued indefinitely. There is still a chance for it to come back if there is enough interest however. The ultimate reason we can no longer hold onto the event is simply because we can not raise enough money. We did everything that we could, from pushing the event back 6 months, to expanding our horizons and inviting new fandoms to join us, giving discounts on tickets, allowing payments in person, having raffles to raise money. We tried our best to make it work from our end for you guys. However our efforts never paid out and we are left with what we currently have.
What happens now?
Anyone who has already paid for a ticket is welcome to ask for a refund of their money. You can do that by asking through this blog, @atlantastuck @georgiagems @nonoising or emailing [email protected] Your refund can be given back to you via paypal or in person at an upcoming event (more info on events later). Everyone who bought a ticket will also be emailed about it and you can also reply to that email.
If for any reason we have money left over the money we will be using it for 2 possible out comes:
1) I have been considering to put on another fundraising type event that will be like an art show. I want to help support our community in the nerdiest way possible that is different and unique than conventions do. By show casing the work of our community and raising money and canned food for homeless LGBT youth I can see something like this achieving that goal. It also may be possible to have the event multiple times in the future. 2) Use the money to help fund small events for any event that is within the Fandom-Fusion umbrella. I am always open to any new ideas and help that anyone might be able to offer the community. Going Forward Fandom-Fusion is still dedicated to providing a comfortable space for fans to be able to come together to learn, network, and have fun. No matter what happens we will still be focused on convention photoshoots, meetups, and panels. Since 2011 we have been coming together to celebrate what we love, and I don’t know about you but I don’t intend on ending that any time soon! With so much love!~ @nonoising
